Where to transplant Asiatic lily 'Mount Duckling'

It is time to transplant my beloved Asiatic lily 'Mount Duckling'. It was a gift from a neighbor in 2008 following my dad's sudden passing, so it is very special and dear to me.
I know that January is past prime transplanting time (best in the Fall) but I've just dug it up and need to replant it soon.

It was growing in a small spot on the east side of our patio (dappled/morning sun until about 1pm), and I am looking for a larger spot to plant all the bulbs for a mass planting and showy display. I searched the net I got mix comments about where to plant an Asiatic lily -- Full sun, part sun, morning sun. In its previous home it bloomed well but always leaned outward, probably looking for sun.
We have clay soil and some empty spots that face south or west. The south-facing spots get full all-day sun; the west-facing get a little dappled shade from a nearby apple tree.

What is the best spot for them? And what do I do with the small ones (bulbs? outer layer?) shown in the bottom photo?
