Vaulted Stone Accent Wall in Living Room

I have a large wood accent wall in my living room currently that is very dated and sunbleached-original owners built it. It doesn't go with our style, and we are looking to redo it.

It attaches to a corner fireplace (gas), that we use a lot to heat our home. There are also two large windows and a door on this wall.

This wall is part of the 'point' of the vault in the ceiling, 20' at it's tallest point.

We are looking at possibly refacing the fireplace and wall with stone, or a stone-like product.

Thoughts? Advice? Photos? I am clueless at to what to use, where to look. I have seen Airstone used, and it seems fairly user friendly and budget friendly. Anyone use it before?

Ignore all the clutter (and the small tree,haha), please. Here is a quick pic of "the wall". Real wood, pink undertone. There is a door, two large (10'+) windows, and the fireplace. Thoughts?

I don't think it's a candidate to be an accent wall. I would just paint it the same color as the other walls. The cutout already makes it stand out.

Jenna, the 'Well, duh' was a bit condescending, considering you have given people nothing to look at in an attempt to help you. How can we help you when we have no idea what the room looks like and where the sofa is? Celerygirl does AMAZING mock-ups for people when they supply pictures, so they can see how something will look. We don't know your colors, what your sofa looks like or what the wallpaper looks like. If someone came up to you and said, 'Accent wall.', wouldn't you ask them what they were talking about? I've got one these right now. It's a beautiful space, but temperature regulation is an issue. Watching TV is an issue, too. The sound is lost in the room and we have to turn the volume up quite a bit to hear. As a retired appraiser, it makes more financial sense to floor the second story portion. While not a wow factor choice, it increases your useable square footage and will result in a corresponding increase in valuation. The point is, there are a lot more factors involved and unintended results of the decision to go with a 2-story high space.

The bench was on the other side when we moved in but I didn't like it. We almost had a built in bench on the wall but changed our minds as we would have to be stuck with it. I actually don't like any of the chairs, which is why we have some black wooden cane back chairs ordered. With chairs pushed in under the table, it isn't too squishy. The bench is too long to fit under the table, which was always an issue and that is one reason it looks weird and one of the things I don't like. I had thought perhaps a grasscloth kind of wallpaper to give some texture to the space. I have varying opinions from friends on the colour. Some say keep it white and some say go dark, which is why I wonder if neutral middle ground might not be wise. As for the pictures, I do love them and when you are sitting at the table, they are a good size. I'm upset with the designer who told me what size to order (frames and photos) as I agree that bigger would be better. Would another row of them help? If we move these down and add another row of three higher up?

Eldorado stone has a bunch of before/after pictures of people who put up stone walls. I've never used their products so I don't know about quality but I've had some of these pictures bookmarked b/c they look really cool!

Here's one of the picture of a before/after wall shaped similarly to yours. It looks great, IMO.

A few questions:

It looks like your fireplace is stone. Are you thinking of matching that stone?

The door to the side makes me think it isn't symmetrical (and your examples are symmetrical). Can you show a photo that includes the door and entire wall?

No, the wall is not symmetrical. The photo I shared shows the door and wall. To the right is the fireplace, that is all.

I am either going to have to match that stone on the fireplace, or curious about redoing the fireplace stone in the same stone as the wall? No idea.

Hard to tell from the photo you posted (just see the corner with the wood wrapping the corner and a peak of stone), but have you considered painting or stining the wood a light grey to pick up the lighter parts of the stone? You could also remove the wood and simply paint the wall without accenting it. The mantel could be painted or stained lighter or darker, beefed up with more or heavier wood... hard to say from that little corner and not seeing the rest of the room or house.
