Who got the Swan Island Catalog? And I need help pls
Comments (10)Hi, I just got my catalog yesterday and haven't had much time to look at it yet. I do have a few on your list: Seduction, Envy and I'm a Hottie. They are all really beautiful and I'm a Hottie is one of my favorites.Rawhide is really pretty too but I think I will wait until next year to get that one because I have noticed that the prices on their new introductions go down quite a bit the third year they are out. This is the second year that one has been available. Comments (6)Yeah, I was originally considering getting just the nicotiana, but was rather annoyed with the idea of spending more on shipping than the actual seeds. So the purple millet was my experimenal splurge, esp. since dd had been really excited about the purple grass in the Burpee catalog. (Naturally, I then bought my Burpee seed at Menards for about 1/3 the cost - and for some odd reason, they had larkspur when neither the catalog nor the website had it! Go figure - and I did check, it was labelled packed for 2007. But of course Menards didn't have the purple millet.) The only cheap seed catalog I know of is Pinetree, tbh - everyplace else has been at least as expensive as Johnny's....See MoreJust got my 2010 Naylor Catalog!
Comments (16)Just found I made a $400 error in cheque book some months ago (don't ask why it's taken me that long to confirm it!?) anyway, the error has stayed stable for 3 months, so I figure it's found money. Now weighing whether I can consider it a gift from the hosta gods and use some of it for Naylor Creek order... I'm leaning towards thanking the gods very much and taking advantage of the 20% off and free shipping... I've been incredibly happy with the Naylor Creek Hostas I bought from the Hosta Library Auction this year, so the catalogue is too tempting. Jakki...See MoreI received a Tantau rose catalogue.... They are so many gorgeous roses
Comments (14)Dianela, I was told years ago by the owner of Palatine that Tantau had no agent here in the US, so they couldn't sell their line of roses here. The older, off patent roses, have been sold for decades in the US. It's the newer ones that are affected. By the term "agent", they must have meant a distributor, plus a US grower would be needed. Before Palatine, Hortico sold Augusta Luise (that is the original spelling, and AL's name is trademarked, but she is not patented, I guess) for a couple of years, and another great rose, which I grow and got from Hortico, called Bernstein-Rose. I would say that Tantau's marketing strategy is worse than David Austin's (when they do the mysterious discontinuation of Evelyn that seems to come and go). I must be on a permanent soapbox when it comes to Tantau, and it's getting worse. Why would a company, well established, that could make a fortune over here, not give it a try? Plus, think of the money they are losing by sending all of us those beautiful catalogs. Diane...See Moreozmelodye
