A rose by anyother name - so confused

I have been growing roses and I am still very confused and hoping
to learn about the classification of roses. I think, but I could be wrong, that
I understand the hybrid tea. However, the other classifications confuses the heck
out of me.

For example what is a shrub rose. I have and love my Outta the
Blue, Abraham Darby, and Quietness which are classified as shrubs. But I don’t
really see any difference between the growth habit of them and say my Blue for
You or Koko Loco which are classified as Floribunda. Under helpmefind when
using advance search, one can search for shrub…. But then it is broken down in
sub categories of Grandiflora, Floribunda
and then back to Shrub. So I thought Floribunda means a lot of blossoms and
Granidflora means large blossoms. But my
Grandifloria Twilight Zone’s blossom is no larger than my Floribunda Sheila’s
Perfume and smaller than many (almost all) of my hybrid teas.

And don’t get me started on the mini and miniflora. I
thought minis were the kind you get at the grocery store that normally stays
below 1 foot tall. But I am seeing minis that are taller than some of my hybrid
teas in helpmefind – which then makes me question what I originally thought “that
I knew what a hybrid tea was”…..

Also, what makes a Rose an antique. When I first found gardenweb, I posted
something under the Antique forum and was told that was for only Antique rose
question…. So I kind of stalk that forum but hesitate to post over there very
often for fear of offending anyone, but I see there are a lot of David Austins
listed there….. and Austins
are modern roses – and they are classified as shrubs. I would have thought
Antiques were roses that were bred around the turn of the century or before.

So confused
