So confused on my floor decision!
Comments (68)lynn - My granite is Taj Mahal. Does Spectraloc grout resist stains more than a normal grout? corgimum - That's a very good question! I'm only going to replace the tile if I can find something I really like. I like the idea of having a bigger tile and I'm hoping to have smaller grout lines this time, but I think that depends on the tile I pick. I certainly don't hate my current tile, but it has a slight pink undertone I don't like. The sample I had was similar minus the pink tone. In person, its a much prettier tile than the one I have. I know the decision is ultimately mine, but both the tile guy and my mother didn't like the color, so that worries me. I found another one I like, but I couldn't tell enough about the color from the tiny samples, so he's going to get a full size tile for me to look at. nanj - Thanks for posting your picture, so I can be prepared for what might happen. The guy took his car keys and rubbed them across the wood floor I'm looking at to show me they shouldn't scratch, because of the protective coating. Is that a good test? Is it a gimmick to make me think they're more bullet proof than they really are?...See MoreSo are these actually the same rose or different?
Comments (4)There are two related series of sports. One originated with Frisco which sported to Black Beauty 99 which sported to Hocus Pocus which sported to Abracadabra Now, if you look at 'Frisco' and 'Black Beauty 99', you see yellow going to dark red. 'Hocus Pocus' and 'Abracadabra' show both colors in variable patterns. I think of them as being partial reversions, and from what others have said about them, they're very unstable. This is probably why they're hard to find, since a nursery selling a plant of 'Hocus Pocus' which blooms solid-colored would likely receive a phone call or email from the buyer. OK, then there's the other line, which begins with Memphis Magic which sported to Memphis Music which sported to Top Contender Now, that second line is interesting to compare to the first because the reverse happened. Instead of starting with a yellow that turned to dark red that then sported to two different "in-betweens", the second line started with dark red that sported to "in-between" that then sported to yellow. 'Memphis Magic' is listed as being Seedling X Black Magic. I wonder if that "Seedling" was something from or related to the first line of sports. :-) ~Christopher...See MoreSo is this the blazing rose or the Henry Kelsey??
Comments (6)I mean if it was a Henry Kelsey rose I would remember it saying as such and listed it in my book but at the time I was not aware of the HK even existing or if I saw this one for sale at our Lowe's in Vaughan or the Terra Garden Centre. I do remember being on the lookout for a Blaze and when I saw one for sale I bought it. I entered this one in my book that I keep info on as the blaze. and if you click on the picture you can just make out the name blaze on it....See MoreI received a Tantau rose catalogue.... They are so many gorgeous roses
Comments (14)Dianela, I was told years ago by the owner of Palatine that Tantau had no agent here in the US, so they couldn't sell their line of roses here. The older, off patent roses, have been sold for decades in the US. It's the newer ones that are affected. By the term "agent", they must have meant a distributor, plus a US grower would be needed. Before Palatine, Hortico sold Augusta Luise (that is the original spelling, and AL's name is trademarked, but she is not patented, I guess) for a couple of years, and another great rose, which I grow and got from Hortico, called Bernstein-Rose. I would say that Tantau's marketing strategy is worse than David Austin's (when they do the mysterious discontinuation of Evelyn that seems to come and go). I must be on a permanent soapbox when it comes to Tantau, and it's getting worse. Why would a company, well established, that could make a fortune over here, not give it a try? Plus, think of the money they are losing by sending all of us those beautiful catalogs. Diane...See Morewirosarian_z4b_WI
