Thanks for the suggestions so far! miss_kenda: I like the herringbone pattern, but I'm not sure that I want it in the entire kitchen space. We do have a small butler's pantry area that is set off from the kitchen that I may do it in. holly-kay: I really like the idea of doing a MOP. Would it be too shiny? I need to get out to look at some MOP later this week. sreedesq: I like the Versailles pattern. Just need to find the right color. Zlauren: Is there a finish you are thinking of? I didn't really like the crackle finish of one of the tiles that I brought home. Here are a couple that I've tried out: Simple white subway tile: Off white subway with some sparkle [similar to Thassos, but not as white] This was my favorite until I put a bunch of tiles up against the wall. I think the graining on the tile may be too busy. What do you think? This is a beige color but looks pinkish to me: Keep the suggestions coming, please! I will not be able to go look at tiles until later this week. So, this is very helpful! Thanks!

I am still in the ABB club but making progress. Our kitchen started out contemporary/modern but ended up transitional. Initially, I really wanted back painted glass but just could not get the glass to talk to the countertop. I did not want subway (reminds me of elementary school or an old hospital - sorry) Tile is Grazia Rixi Crema and the inset is called Beach - from Tile-shop.com (not tileshop.com) This is the tile and inset we are going to order - working on shipping arrangements as has to go to a business or the shipping costs as much as the tile!! Plan on one layer of 5x5, then the inset, and then diagonal above. These are all different color tiles as I only have one sample of the color. I might put a few small medallions above the cooktop (see Chitown - not sure she posted) L-shaped section of the kitchen (there bake zone is on the opposite side) but might give you an idea of at the style.

i think you can see from that photoshop that something dominatily white is the way to go, lets your chandy still be the eye candy in that room, and i still think a little sparkle fits your kitchen bee.....those hex might just fit the bill! i guess i was thinking of pips kitchen....her bs seems to have just a little sparkle to it, but if i remember correctly, she said its not that sparkly in person? you are on the right track, and like others have said, you have great taste. trust yourself!

I like the way this backsplash changes with light reflection and texture but appears to be all the same color. What do you think of this? I don't know what it is. Mayflowers which photo are you referring to? One of them was taken on the island, one on beverage area, and another on range wall. I guess I'll be starting a new thread soon.
