Nicloe, Isn't it amazing how far and wide all that construction dust can go. After I put up the Christmas tree Dh decided to cut in the hole in the floor of that room for a new heat run. Need I say more.

Nicole, the remodel looks like it is coming along. Is the fireplace done or is there a mantel yet to come? I really like the cabinets. Nice work.

Casey, I had no idea the statue of Martin Luther King was so large!! I didn't get that impression from the pictures I've seen of it. But there wasn't anybody in the picture with the statue. Your picture gives a much better perspective. Thanks.

Seems like there was some controversy when the statue was installed, but I cannot remember what it was. It's very impressive.

The King family refused to allow use of his "likeness" without payment of what I think wound up as a 6 figure licensing fee. It was a case of outrageous greed. I support the recognition of him and what he did but I'm sorry someone with a clearer head wasn't in a position to pull the plug on completing the monument. Solely because of the extortion by his family.

ML King fees

Murraysmom...I purchased crown moulding to make the mantle with, buuuuuut....not sure if that's what were using or not. It's MDF. DH says it's made with plastic....IDK if that's a problem? Tomorrow were hanging the pantry door...looked at granite slabs today. Gran Valle.

You did jog my memory though. There was a problem with the inscription on the statue. I'm not sure if it was ever rectified. It's a most impressive statue. I'd love to see it someday.

We saw the MLK memorial this summer and yes it is impressive, as are all the monuments in DC. Yesterday I saw the reenactment of THE speech being given at the Lincoln memorial where he originally gave it, but thought why not do it at HIS monument. Maybe the family would want to charge for it!! LOL
