Thanks for sharing that Rockybird. His houses are as much a piece of art as they are a home.

The house meshes with the landscape wonderfully. A great modernist interpretation of the traditional pueblo style. My only concern would be the sun glare and heat with all those big windows. I didn't see any blinds or draperies in the living room.

@Robo and chispa - I agree! The exterior is amazing, but the interior, to me, looks claustrophobic and yacht-like.

Thoroughly enjoyed viewing this house. The origami furniture is included! LOL. The only thing I'd remove is the ugly blue sofa in the TV room and replace it with a cool, curved MCM sofa. Loved all the built-ins. Although after reading the property details, I wonder what's original and what was added in the 1995 renovation.

While I generally like open spaces (but not open floor plans, I'm a walking enigma) glass-on-one-side-of-a-hallway for example, I do like the yacht sensation, where you walk into a room of light like going on deck. I do, however, find the kitchen claustrophobic, the windows are low enough that the sun won't be in your eyes, but too low to connect you to the outdoors.

The hall o' storage is cool, I've seen that around here in FLW-inspired houses, smart. And how about that bar with retracting doors!

With FLW homes, the following can be a plus or a minus: the house is already decorated and furnished or calls for a particular decoration, furniture, or placement, so your choices are minimal!

Nah! not my taste at all

I went to Florida Southern College. The campus is the largest collection of FLW buildings in the world, I believe. Four ears there was plenty of FLW for me.

It fits so perfectly into the surrounding space -- amazing.

The low ceilings in many of the rooms really bother me, as does the wall to ceiling wood paneling, and it is in large part because I really dislike that yellow color wood, which is very pervasive. The wooden lounge chairs look like they belong in Pee Wee's Playhouse. The pool is not a practical shape.

The house looks okay from the outside (except for the pool), but the interior is terrible, and that's were people live. He's done much better houses, although in generally I never like his color choices. I much prefer Michael Graves for color schemes.

Lars, the buildings at FSC have very low ceilings, too. I am "vertically challenged" (hubby's term) and even I can reach the ceilings over the covered walkways there. The steps are also very short - maybe 2" tall. Which makes for a lot of steps to get anywhere. :)

FLW was certainly a visionary, a genius, etc. and I appreciate his work, in an artistic sense. Have never seen one in which I would care to live, however.

I appreciate much of FLW's work, having toured one of his houses and Talesin West, but when i see something like this i think his greatest talent was his ability to talk (or bully) clients into letting him experiment with their homes.

Wow, I would never have guessed that was a FLW home. It has occurred to me that he may have been controlling, I mean...how many architects design furniture that becomes a permanent design element in a home?
