Get a program called Malwarebytes. The free version is good enough to fix most problems. Run that. Another to get is Ccleaner. Between those 2, and a good security suite, you should be fine.

Also make sure your computer is being updated (your windows, and all your peripheral programs) and defragged on an ongoing, regular basis.

Have all of the above, updated reg. and defrag one time a week. Forgot to mention that most of the time, pop up says. IE has stopped working. It either shuts down the site, or it comes back on, you never know which. Have run c cleaner and malbytes all the time. Thank you, still needing help.

You can and should reset IE at tools internet options scroll down to reset and follow through..

Open IE. Look for a box to pop up asking you about making IE default browser. Make your choice. It won't let you advance until you do. After that, look in upper right corner and click on the gear symbol which opens tools. Choose internet options and make choices from there. Click Apply and OK when done.

How old is this computer? I think you may need to consider there may be a hardware problem. It sounds like your Hard Drive may be failing. Get System Information Viewer: http://rh-software.com/

and see what sort of hard drive you have. Then go to that manufacturers web site and search for their disk testing program. Run it - this can take a long time, but it will let you know if you have that sort of problem. If you do, you'll want to back up any information you have on the computer and see about replacing the disk. You'll probably need a restore disk, so make sure to create one (the computer vendor can help with this).

If you're not DIY here, you may want to consider getting professional help also. This diagnostic process can get complicated.

Are you asking me? if so open IE then up on the right top (on tool bar) at Tools go to internet options, then scroll down to where you will see reset and go for it!

computer is only little over a year old, did not find any problems with the HP scans. I don't have a clue guess I will have to have someone look at it, thank you to all who replied.

Have you just recently updated your Flash(IE and non-IE) to the current version? I read somewhere the IE version was causing lock-up on some systems.

You have several issues, Internet explorer, Firefox and slow computer, so its just not Internet Explorer.
