Just want to show off my favorite
Comments (9)Hi Phillip, Wow, both AV's are beautiful. Don't know which I like better. The spotted flower 'Rainbow' is gorgeous, but Blue Dragon's, double foliage is outstanding. Thankfully, no voting is required. :) You started both violets from leaves? Congrats. Don't know if you saw my post, but I received 4-free-violet leaves. 2 mini, 2 standard. It's been years since I've rooted violet leaves. Hope they root. Which method do you use? Soil or water? If soil, which mediums are mixed for propagation? Phillip, no need to apologize for posting....Heck, posting is the reason these wonderful forums exist. If it wasn't for posters, it'd be a dead site. lol. It's nice conversing with people who love plants. I haven't anyone to talk plants with, so I appreicate the forums. Friends who, at one time grew greens got bored, or stopped for health reasons. And, who doesn't like viewing plant pics? I for one enjoy browsing others' plants. I'm certain many others do too. So, keep posting. I should snap pics, too..:) Toni...See MoreJust a couple of my favorite clivia pic I wantd to share.
Comments (14)Hi Mike! I looovvveeee your variegated clivia!!! What is it? Summer???? It seemed like we didn't have summer here in VA! All these rain sure is keeping me MORE busy spraying fungicides. LOL! Here is one of my favorite clivias. It is a variegated Daruma and it's widest leaf is now almost 4 inches wide. It has 9 leaves now. See why I need to spray??? Ughhh!!! What would be the best fungicide that can take care of these leaf rots???...See MoreDo you have a favorite mixing bowl set?
Comments (48)Much depends on what I'm doing. Most of the time I like the Pyrex clear glass ones. I like to be able to see from the outside if things are mixed. Plus the shape is great for mixing, even using a mixer and they're deep enough without being too deep. I even bought a larger one for making angel food cake since the others weren't big enough. There too, it's great for things like slaw and salads to see that it's mixed well. I like to be able to see! I had a plastic handle one similar to the one in the link only more conventional shape and used a lot for stuff that would pour. Don't use it much now though. I just bought an Anchor Hocking covered measuring thing from Aldi before Christmas when they had them reasonably priced and I used it to make banana bread. Worked great. I really liked the handle to keep a grip while stirring. I guess I'm not too fussy, I'll usually grab what I can get my hands on, though I do have preferences....See MoreBroke a favorite crystal star, can you help?
Comments (16)Thanks roselvr, I'll keep an eye out (nothing in my Inbox yet). Sorry about your lamp. :/ That's a pretty shade of green. I do like a colored glass lamp, makes me think of sea glass. (Thought about one for a bad-side table and could only envision pieces on the floor. 'Graceful' is not a strong suit.) What adds to the pain of these situations is the "it" factor and bonus "good score". I bet it would make for a beautiful tree if there were a bunch of them on it lol I know! I want to see dee's DIL's tree now. :) nanny, that's sad they're closing (and I feel even sicker about not being more careful). Well, the star is glued back together. Found a new (to me) Krazy Glue Gel, and it will work on glass. It comes out in very tiny drops that don't run. (That's a keeper, I have issues with the liquid...often involving my fingertips. Once I opened a new tube, couldn't get the liquid to come out at all, gave it one more good squeeze and not only did that set it free, it shot across the room like it was launched from a squirt gun.) I didn't realize till the points came off how they were were attached, thought they were molded together in manufacturing somehow. Discovered little flat areas cut on the body and base of each point, and the faintest thin outlines like a prior adhesive would leave. Made it very easy to see where each piece went. Also made me realize there were actually 6 small star tips and I only had 4. Back to crawling around the floor. The 5th was tucked back under the foot of an end table. No sign of the 6th, probably swallowed up by my Roomba and inadvertently dumped in the trash. (Also found my cats' stash of new stuffed mice & a rat waaay back under the hutch. Wondered what happened to them. No doubt landed there after hockey puck slams and their little paws won't reach that far to retrieve them.) So I only put 4 short points on the front for visual balance. One of the large points did come off after I attached it, but after the second attempt seems OK now. So my little star is hanging back in the window and I'm happy. Still looks just as pretty. Can't even tell anything happened to it unless you look really close. :)...See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
