Exotic Angel Plants and Questions...
Comments (13)Thanks ladies...I did hours of searching on the web...I'm sure that hoya #2 is Krinkle 8...each leaf has 4 dimples on each side of the leaf. Boy, EA is really messed up...they also list H. tsangii as DS 70, as well as H. bilobata as DS 70. Both of the EA's I started this thread with are called "Mini wax leaf"...and #1 says it's H. carnosa, #2 says it's H. bella. No, you're right Denise...there's no mention of "bella" on EA's website, but, neither is there mention of "Mini wax leaf" or Krinkle 8 with/or without mention of carnosa or bella!!! But, I thank you both for the help...I believe we've got them correctly ID'd. Now, can you clear up the confusion about H. bilobata...I was under the impression that this plant was DS-70...or is it also H. tsangii? Too confusing for this old guy!! I learned that there's absolutely no way #2 is a "bella"...perhaps the labels did get switched around...no one could be that stupid to call this plant a "bella"!! lol Thanks so much ladies! Fondly, Patrick...See MoreExotic Angel Opened an Online Store!!
Comments (30)Jo, I have seen linearis in the box stores in the past few years, though usually by the time I came across them, they were looking pretty sad. I got my EA linearis from a local garden center that sold EA plants, I gave the girl there that did the ordering a list of a few plants I was interested in, and she passed them along to EA, no promises though! Lucky for me, they did send a linearis, and I knew what day they were to be shipped and was there to see them take it out of the box, so I was the only one to ever water it or care for it, which may be why the plant survived. FYI, alot of people water linearis from the bottom to avoid what seems to be a common issue with the variety, stem rot right above the soil level. Not the whole stem, but just a small section rots and then dries up and withers away, so that water and nutrients can no longer reach the rest of the stem...if you don't clip it off and remove the dead part, it will die. I have watched it happen to my plant, and am slowly transferring all the pieces that get the stem rot to hydroculture. I tried switching out of the EA mix to my faster draining mix, and that helped somewhat, but didn't solve the problem. I am not having any problems in hydro though, so I am assuming it has something to do with the soil, rot causing microbes or whatever. I have heard of this happening to a few other people with this plant, but i don't know how common it is - and I am a stingy waterer too, so I was surprised it happened to me. If anyone else has had the problem, I would love to know how they solved it. No matter what, it is not enough to make me want to stop growing this hoya, I really like it. Wish the dang thing would bloom though!!...See MoreGolden Hahniis by Exotic Angel
Comments (21)amany, Thank you for your compliments. To be honest, I just bought those pandas about a month ago. I went to two separate Lowes and bought about 6 different 2.5 inch pots that had 2-3 pandas in each pot and I put them all together in a 4 inch pot. I really like how it turned out too. In overview 3, I am not sure which one you are referring to when you said "middle sans," but I am guessing you mean the darkish green colored one (not the larger one on the left of that tiny plant in the middle, but on the right)? I am not sure what type of sans that is to be honest. If you look at it by standing over it and looking down at it, it is all darkish green in color and you can only see some whitish bands if you look at the sides of it. When I say whitish bands, I mean almost a ghostish bands as they are almost invisible, but just white enough you can see them. This is only present on a couple of the leaves. That weird white "u" thing you see is just a scar, I have no idea how it got here or why it looks like a "u," but I guess that just makes it unique lol. The one on the left in "overview 3" is a birds nest sanserveria. I found it at a local Lowes. I bought myself a Sansevieria Laurentii today at HD, I didn't see this one before, I guess I didn't loo hard enough. They've had a few of these for weeks now but I said ah well, I'll look at all of them today and see if I can't find a decent one. I found one that has some scaring, but really good overall.... nothing like those moonshines we see *cries* lol. It has 4 new babies on it, such beauties. Elizabeth...See MoreExotic Angels Plant! New? "Red Ruby"
Comments (14)So I was at Walmart last night(again) and found this ficus. All of them have the same "Red Ruby" tag. There were at least 10 of the varigatied ones and the solid ones so I know it wasn't a tag mistake. This one looks like the "Ruby" ficus I already have P.S. I bought the cutie of course! The husband isn't too happy though. Lol...See MoreMentha (East TN, Zone 6B-7A)
