please help with tile backsplash
Comments (11)Hi jean... I think the mandorla is very pretty. I like your color combination. What is it about the tile that makes you unsure/hesitant? Lighting in the store is usually really different than in one's kitchen, so it does make it harder. Are you going to just do the one tile or have an accent? This isn't your style/color kitchen, but jillsee used the Rixi mandorla. I think it turned out great. There are some nice close-ups in the thread below. Maybe it will give you more confidence? Also, has remodelfla chimed in on your other thread? She's good at this stuff! :) Here is a link that might be useful: jillsee's kitchen with Rixi mandorla backsplash...See MoreHELP! Tile Backsplash
Comments (2)That's a grout colorant. If you want to go that route, I can give you the url to a premium one. You might try hitting the joints with oxyclean and a toothbrush, first, though. Even if it doesn't clean it good enough for you, you have to clean the joints ANYWAY before you use a grout colorant, so it won't be wasted time. Oxyclean won't make the grout look like new-- especially old food stained white grout-- but it'll make it look a whole HELLUVA lot better than it does now. Start with that, and if it doesn't do a good enough job for you, come on back, and not only will I give you the url to the product, but I'll also give you another url with step by step instructions on the easiest way of how to use it....See MoreBack Splash -Anything NEW
Comments (33)Limestone - okay so probably not a trend, but I found something a bit different that has me quite excited. I would love to hear other ideas from GW users for what to do with limestone. I'd like to have a quartz counter with limestone backsplash. I used seagrass limestone in my masterbath (slab counter & subway tile for shower & backsplash) and have thought about another fossil limestone with brown tones (instead of green). Updated to add link to GW user with limestone BS (4x12 subway): Kitchen Reveal Regardless, today I found something called silver beige vein cut and I love it! Check out this placement of large format rectangle tiles. I'd probably use smaller format in my kitchen, but I'm officially in love. The grey vein cutting through the sample in the lower photo means the overall tile could have some variation that one might not love... Comments (24)I found some options from Lowes in your price range that would look good with your materials and have enough contrast not to look too beige. You can order them online and pick them up at your local store for no charge. Big box stores can be great places to find a good tile value. And I love that you can buy 3 or 4 sheets of tile, bring them home to see if they look good, and return them if they don't. Here's your space. Tile options start below. My favorite is the lantern tile. The hexagonal tiles are a very sexy look, but I'm not sure you have enough height in your bs. The glass and stone mosaic is a subtle look, but it has a nice level of contrast. The marble mosaic might look a little busy, but the colors are good. I hope these are helpful....See MoreRelated Professionals
