Marvel 48" Side-by-Side Built-In Refrigerator
Comments (32)On my end, I'm still happy with the purchase (especially in light of the cost savings), but I have experienced a few issues. 1. The seal (at the base of the freezer where ice tends to build up) has cracked slightly, so I have experienced a minor drip as well. But that is nothing that a little replacement putty can't fix. 2. The hinge on the refrigerator makes a click sound once you get past a certain point. It hasn't bothered me enough to call Marvel though. 3. I guess the last thing is the noise. The refrigerator was pretty quite the first several months... certainly quieter than the posts on Houzz make it out to be. But in the past few months it has started to get a little bit louder. It's not loud enough to be a nuisance when you're having a conversation in the kitchen, but it's a bit louder than it was out of the box. At the price I paid, I would also buy again. But if price were no object, I would probably go for one of the luxury brand names....See MoreFrench door Vs. Side X side refrigerator
Comments (4)Have you thought of a single door? I'm leaning that direction for the very reasons you mention. My ice & water were the first to go on my Amana. French doors also have the problem of having to open both doors to access the meat drawer. Everyone I know that uses the single door loves them. No water on the door, but water dispenser is right inside. FYI, my kids, when they were really little, made quite a mess with the ice/water on the door!...See MoreCan't decide between side by side or French door!
Comments (15)I'm pondering the same question: SxS vs FD. Despite the narrow issue, the following keeps pulling me towards the SxS. First: the FD reminds me of the chest freezer we used to have. Stuff just kind of finds it's way to the bottom, no matter how hard you try, and it gets lost. True, they have them with 2 drawers now, but the bottom one is still deep enough for this to occur. Second: my SIL bought my MIL a bottom freezer. Then she injured her back and couldn't get ANYTHING out of the freezer -- my husband has a back issue and I need him to get his own waffles for as long as possible. I've measured the widest items in our freezer and frig, and take a measuring tape with me when I look at appliances. So far the sxs seem to fit what I typically have. TYPICALLY. Brining the thanksgiving 14 lb bird could be an issue, though. I think we'll end up with a s by s with a little upright chest freezer in the garage. The thanksgiving bird may end up in the cooler with ice packs....See Moresubzero: 42” French door or 48” side by side
Comments (29)Maria Rojas, thank you so much for letting me know. I have 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 2 - 22 and while I've heard the SZ stainless doors are much more heavy duty than a lot of other brands, it's good to hear about real life experience. I've read quite a few complaints about Fisher & Paykel and Bosch stainless doors being easily scratched and dented. I just finished a 40 minute zoom meeting with our nearest SZ distributor, which is several hours drive from me. They have the new 48 inch French Door in their showroom and we went through all of it, including opening and closing all the doors and drawers. Either frig door can open or close independently of the other. The drawers on either side of the frig will open when the door on just that side is opened. The exterior doors and drawers looked pretty easily opened by the sales rep too. This is important for my aging, arthritic body. I love it!...See Morereddyinga
