Utt oh - the sewage smell is unwelcome
Comments (7)to expound on "warmfridge's" answer when the toilet was installed the wax ring which seals the toilet to the flange some times slips and doesnt make a good seal or isnt large enough to make the seal which then requires a larger wax ring or two doubled up. Venting can be a major problem because if the toilet was moved from a previous location they may not have the vent properly connected or even vented at all. Either way you need to call the plumber that installed it all back to have him fix it. The other question I would have is what did they do with the old toilet location? how was it sealed? or removed? If it wasnt properly sealed it could be leaking sewer gas because toilet drains depend on the trap in the toilet itself to stop gas seepage. Remove the toilet and you have an open pipe to the sewer....See MoreI think I found our next build! Recognize this house plan?
Comments (44)DLM - are you talking about "liming"? That is popular here in the south and I'm assuming it's the same or similar to white-washing. Stinky - I feel the same. I'd feel lost in a house that size LOL. Nor do I want to clean or heat/cool it! But, it's only the two of us (no children), and we have very few overnight guests. We don't have plans to down-size, but no up-sizing either. We built our home 13 years ago with the future in mind - such as - NO STEPS. LOL PPS - I love your home. I enjoyed watching your build on the building forum. I'm glad there are others here who enjoy that board. We're not building, have no plans of building again, but I usually try to look at that board once a month (when I remember!) to see the updates on new builds. I like looking at houses! Comments (7)I've attended 3 weddings in the past 3 weeks. Two of them didn't recognize any deceased family members in a public way during their wedding or their reception. One of the couples recognized deceased grandparents of both and a deceased sister of the bride at the reception, with a small table set up displaying pictures with a nice flower arrangement on the table behind the pictures. The photos they chose to display were in very beautiful frames and all were smiling very happy smiles. One grandmother's photo was from a wedding shortly before her (sudden and unexpected) death so she was dressed in 'wedding attire' and wearing a corsage of roses. It seemed very appropriate. Some people mention the deceased in their wedding programs. Some have a reading of a favorite poem or have a favorite song of the loved one. Some light candles during the ceremony. The 'rememberence' doesn't have to be something visible to the guests ... it could be something like, your FH might wear his father's watch, cuff links or something that was a gift from his father to him during his life. It could even be that he carries a small photo of his parents in his pocket during the ceremony. It depends on what makes the two of you happy without casting a feeling of sadness on your special day. Talk it over with your FH and go with what will make him happy....See MoreAnyone recognize this style of Hoosier cabinet?
Comments (22)Great research skills, Fori ! I can't believe the one on the auction site only sold for $150, but it does appear to be in far worse condition than the OP's, and shipping costs would add a significant amount to the price actually paid. I still think it's a fascinating, and unusual cabinet. Anyone know what the item hanging on the top right side of the cabinet is ? mle0782, I hope you can see now that it's obviously a kitchen cabinet....See Morebreathnez
