I've been reading my vege porn!

I got my Baker Creek catalogue last week and have been salivating through it. The problem is that there are only 2 of us and we have both taken early retirement, so there aren't the co-workers to give the leftovers! (Especially squash!)

I'm in a quandary about if I should buy seed for things that I can't get from my local seed exchange (free) I usually only need a couple of plants, but haven't always had great success doing starts, or buying sturdy, healthy starts from a local organic place( more $, but I'm really not concerned about the $ YES I AM! YES I AM! a little OCD coming in here! LOL)

I love the thought of starting everything from seed, but if I buy seed and only use 1/2 dozen, how long will the seed be good?

Also, sometimes I want to do a different tomato on a different year! Nancy
