Something I've pulled out to work on.

So, though I didn't get anything quilty for Christmas, it so happens that a few weeks before, I had some time to play in my sewing room. I pulled out a 10yo UFO and started re-working it.

I had it all draped about, and wouldn't you know it, it made the perfect place to hide presents! lol

I've decided to make the green & blue borders smaller, and leave the printed fabric as the drape of this bed quilt. The printed fabric is what was used to make the dresdan plates, and will get a large scallped edge. I'd like to quilt large feathers to flow between the plates.

I hope I can get back to it soon...I'd like it done for Spring.

That looks familiar. Did it come to camp one year? I agree smaller borders would be good. Be sure to post when you finish.

That's terrible. My wife and I started working on front yard cleaning up. She accidently pulled my 1 yr old Nelly Moser up since she thought it was a weed. Maybe it will come back from the roots. I wonder if a cat or dog might have pulled it out. I guess there wasn't any animal paw prints? Doug

Yes, the ragweeds bloom at the same time as the goldenrods, but have nondescript, barely visible, green flowers that produce TONS of highly allergenic wind-dispersed pollen, while the more prominent, yellow-flowered, sticky pollen goldenrods get all the blame. I also think these photos look like Phlox paniculata, and will be interested to see pictures once they're in bloom!

Cheri - those arrangements are beautiful and what a great idea to give them BEFORE the holidays so they can use them as part of their holiday decor. I did that one year with sets of Christmas dishes for my daughter and DIL. I always get mine out on Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season so I figured they would like to use them ahead of time also. We have some very very talented people on this forum - keep the pictures coming...... Lynne

Thanks, everyone - I brought these in to work today to hang in my office. Red Clay Soil, when the kits are marketed they will have the preprinted background and buildings, plus a CD with the machine embroidery designs. Also very good instructions and a thread chart for the embroidery. The buyer will supply the stabilizer and threads. You'll also be able to purchase additional backgrounds and buildings through her website so you can make more than one picture. I think when I quilted these I had Coats & Clark All Purpose (poly/cotton) in the top and poly machine emb. bobbin thread. The kit instructions include ideas about quilting landscape quilts. Donna

This came to the very first retreat 10 years ago, prepped and ready as a quilt-as-you-go quilt... And then it sat, and sat, and sat. It's one of those that I have a vision for but not the ability to achieve that vision. But now I have a friend with a long-arm/computer who will let me use it for free... That may achieve the feathers that I envision.

So, I've un-sandwiched it, and am rebuilding the top, adding the borders. Then I will piece together the backing and we'll go from there.

I think I've decided on a 3/4" green inner border, 1" blue, and a full 22" of the floral, which will ultimately get scalloped.

Isn't funny that when you put things away for a while what you had originally envisioned just doesn't seem right. I think it will be beautiful! Have fun.
