I made all of DH's family a Christmas arrangement. I gave it to them at Thanksgiving so they could enjoy them longer.

First I made the base for the seat. A square or rectangle, whichever one you want. I used 2 x 4's. Then I added the legs. The back legs can go to the top of the seat base, the front legs need to go high enough to support the arms of the chair. I used wider boards for that and had to cut it down to match up with the size of arm board I used. Then I cut down the the skid boards to fit the seat. Attached those to the seat base. I added a board to the front of it under the skid slats to hide the ugly 2 x 4. And I think I added one to the back to make it even for adding the boards at the back. Then I cut the boards for the back of it. Then cut them at an angle and cut the lengths to what I thought would look good. Attach the boards to the back at the seat base. I then cut a couple more pieces of the skid board to attach to the slats on the back of the chair. I did that because the boards on the back of the chair were sticking out at different depths. I used the boards on the back to hold them all even. Then cut skid boards for the arms. Attach them to the front leg and at the back of the chair. Paint and your done. I'm not good at explaining things so I hope you understood the directions. lol Deb

The more I look at the photo of the mini bottle tree, the more I wonder if I should remove the two larger bottles. Opinions, please? They are twice the size of the others and now I'm just not sure they should be used with them. I've been busy making totems today. Hopefully I can take some photos tomorrow. I need a red vase to finish one tho. I never see red here for some reason. Anyway, I did a green and crystal totem. Another cobalt (with crystal) totem. One with some lighter blue glass that I found a plate, saucer, and vase all same color. I'm also making some small totems. I had put together several pieces for TOPS of totems and decided I like them just fine as they are, LOL. Mini totems. I can't remember who (my apologies) but one of you did this and put them in plants I believe? Thanks again for all the kind comments, I sure won't hear any from family on my garden junk creations. LOL.

Thanks excessfroufrou, I sold a couple of dozen totems a few years ago when we thot we'd move. Was thinking of having a sale this year but it may be too late in the season. Maybe next year. I only buy glass when it's really cheap. That squirrel was $2.50 and I never pay more than $3 for a piece of glass for a totem. Many pieces I use cost 25Â¢ - 50Â¢, sometimes less.

Mike, hey, Mike!!! Good to see you, friend. Your ears must be burning- Kristy and I were talking 'bout you yesterday, about how much we miss you. Me too, I wanna be in your "family". I love them all. ;o) You do a wonderful job on the bows too. That corner of your room looked so festive, bet you sort of hated to give them all away, didn't you?

So were they thrilled to get such a nice gift at Thanksgiving? What a nice, thoughtful thing to do.

Cheri - those arrangements are beautiful and what a great idea to give them BEFORE the holidays so they can use them as part of their holiday decor. I did that one year with sets of Christmas dishes for my daughter and DIL. I always get mine out on Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season so I figured they would like to use them ahead of time also. We have some very very talented people on this forum - keep the pictures coming......

Cheri - Those things are great!! You are very talented and you have one lucky family! I loved the snowman and tree that was in the old drawer, is that what it was?

terri pacnw, I usually use that paint snow that you can buy at the craft stores. But, I'm out of it. So I just sprayed the styrofoam balls with spray adhesive then sprinkled them with mica flakes. I have seen where some people use joint compound or patching plaster then sprinkle with mica flakes.

Skyrider, I just try and use what I have on hand. I buy things usually when they are on sale. I did have to go and buy me some more snowmen and lights. I just kinda match what I have and put them together that way. Thanks for your compliment.
