I have I gueese tree frog those slimy frogs that climb the walls. trouble is after dark they climb on my sliding doors and one of my dogs is obsessed with hunting anoles outside and at night she spots the frogs on the glass and backs non stop at them . id there anyway to get rid of them im afraid if I let her out at night she will get one and I read they are piousness to dogs not to mention the barking nuisance

Only Cuban Tree Frogs are toxic to dogs(and pretty much everything else), and you didn't say what kind of tree frogs there are. The frogs, if native, are very beneficial, since they eat insects, including biting, blood-sucking insects that prey on humans and dogs. Instead of getting rid of the frogs, which are probably performing a very beneficial service, why not train the dog not to bark at them? This doesn't sound like a wildlife problem as much as it is a dog training/control problem. I've owned and bred dogs for more than 40 years, mostly hunting and working breeds and primitive breeds with high prey drives, and I've only had three dogs out of that time period that could not be trained to ignore snakes, frogs, and other non-target animals.

Don't know your region, but 3 years ago our 20,000 sf lawn of mostly KBG, in southern New England, was infested with ground ivy - or Creeping Charlie. After some research I found that WBG was the best remedy. I followed the label directions and applied with an Ortho Dial'N Spray applicator. If I recall correctly, the mix ratio is 2 oz. per gallon per 500 sf. I bought the gallon concentrate and broadcasted the application in divided quadrants of 5,000 sf. The best time to apply is when the weeds are flowering, or as was my situation, just about now. I must say, it did the trick and killed about 85-90% of all the weeds, even clover. Problem with ground ivy though, is it comes back. I've noticed it's spreading again but have been reluctant to reapply the chemicals, due to our large organic vegetable gardens, located in the middle of the rear lawn. I'm sure other, more knowledgeable posters, will provide better feedback, but in my experience it did work - by following label directions.

Hi Al, Thanks for the welcome!! I don't know what zone I'm in, but live in Wisconsin. And of course, thank you so much for the answer. I'm so happy to hear that I will have them next year. One more question, since they are so gnarled and curled (they are about 2 feet high) I would like to cut them to about 5-7 inches above the ground. Should I pare them down or leave them. I'm am worried if I shorten them now they won't bloom next year.

I would not use ANY insecticide or herbicide in an area where pets spend much time. They always say its safe after its dry, but the reality is residue does remain and theres not been much research specific to animals. Cats in particular spend many hours each day rubbing up against things to scent mark them, and licking themselves. Amounts safe for a human, who are larger and generally dont lick themselves, cant be assumed to be safe for pets. Ive even read that people should be careful about not walking on treated lawns and then tracking the residue into the house. Animals spend a lot of their lives on the floor so again their exposure is going to be different from what a human's might be.

Thanks everyone! I have been visiting this site for along time. I used glass tea light holders for the eyes that I purchased at the dollar store, and three different sizes of green gems to help define the warts you can even put gems on top of gems to get even a better wort effect.I used large clear gems for the eye balls painted on one side and slipped them in the tea light holders. When I glued the smaller gems around the edge and on the back the eyes had a green cast.They looked really good. the stand that it is on was used for the legs and they were wrapped with screen to glue the gems on. The bowling ball is easy to drill holes in, so I was able to cut the legs off of the stand and insert them. I used a coat hanger for the tongue. I got the stand at family dollar for 1.00 and the gems at dollar tree.I hope you like them I tried to make them look as if they were jumping. I also left the thumb hole in the BB so I can put the frog on a pole jumping over my pond.I gave one away for a Christmas present and I really hated to see him go, he was a prince!!! Dogs aren't (that) stupid. They might pick up a Treefrog (all of which are mildly toxic), but once it gets a taste it will spit them out. Only really persistant dogs will eat them or attack them over and over enough to be injured. Don't worry about the treefrogs and train your dog not to bark at them.

Can you shut the curtains on the sliding doors? Tree frogs are attracted to light.
