I Hate Winter ... & It Hates Me Right Back
Comments (7)OK Linda, come on over! I always have an open house for rescue animals. Oh, pardon me, that does not apply here. I've experienced plenty of cold in the past, and I must say that I'm glad I escaped. Not that I like the terrible heatspells we have here in the summer, but I'm glad that right now it feels like a cool summer day. It shows 75 degrees on my patio at mid-day. How about if I send you some of it? Take care. Get warm. Get heater working. Ingrid...See MoreHelp me, please. I hate the color of the grout..
Comments (6)Well, my DH thought he got the same grout color for our hall bath that the tile installer used for our master bath. When I came home to find him grouting, the grout mix looked like crushed red clay flowerpots. I made a comment and DH told me he had already tried it and it would dry fine. Well.......it didn't. He made a mistake in reading the color name and now we have beige tiles with a light terra cotta grout. The crying thing? Yes. Been there, thought of that. I bought colorant after posting on the John Bridge forum asking for help, (try that if all else fails) but ended up not using it because we did something we didn't plan in that bath and I let my DD use a deep terra cotta on the walls. Now the whole thing blends and it looks fine. When I repaint somewhere down the line, I will use the colorant. Red p.s. You can fix this. Really....See MoreSurvey: what color grout should I use on my back splash? pictures
Comments (9)Well, vintage was the original idea because this is a remodel of our family farm's kitchen that my in-laws for several generations have lived in. Now we have lived here for 20 years and it was time to replace the 65 year old cupboards. We have college kids and they hated to see the old stuff go so I tried to keep the spirit of the place. The counters are soapstone, the knobs are the black iron that Amerock makes. The exposed hinges match. The wood is cherry. Thanks for both of your comments. Score 1 to 1. Comments (22)Can you remove the short slash? Otherwise I wouldn't add a tile splash. You've got too much intruding on the available space with the short splash, microwave, and stove panel. I think the desk area would look odd tiled since it doesn't feel kitcheny. The small counter area will need to be tiled out to the edge of the wall, and I've not seen that before. You might change the hardware to ORB to give a little visual break to the cabinetry. The pendants are beautiful but the orange blends in with the orange tones of the cherry, so new pendants could work wonders. Long term I'd want to change the countertop to eliminate the orange. I only mention it because it looks like you'd only need one slab of countertop material....See Moremullde
