Homelite chainsaw bolt stripped
Comments (7)I just did the same thing to my Dolmar, but I stripped it where it goes into the chainsaw so now it won't tighten down without the bolt pulling up out of the body or shell of the chainsaw. I just put two nuts on the bolt tightly together and then unscrewed the bolt right out without having to take it completely apart. Well I'm going to reply even though I just looked at the date you posted this and I'm sure you've already figured it out. I've got to figure out if they make a bolt with a size bigger on the end that goes into the chainsaw. If you found anything out that might be in the nature of my problem please let me know, thanks!...See More$78 Homelite Chainsaws at Home Depot
Comments (12)I bought a mccullogh for 50 bucks with the same thing in mind about 10 years ago and have put it through hell fixing up the place. Seems like the worse I treat it the better it goes. Repair parts will probably cost more than the saw did (plus labor)so I'll throw it away someday. I got Stihl for Christmas (I live in Germany where there is a dealer in just about every town) that'll be the keeper. As far as storage, if you're worried, you may run it out of gas before you leave it for a long time. On the other hand I've got a couple of mopeds, a weedeater and a lawnmower that all use the same mix. I mix 5 gallons at a time with the current mix being on it's 2nd year with no problems. The cheaper it is, the less it hurts when you back over it with your truck or tractor. Good Luck....See MoreReal world chainsaw advice
Comments (23)In some ways Andy in this deal you are a moron. Everyone on here pretty much told you that you would not be happy with a saw like that. I'm not laughing at you, just scratching my head why you thought it would be different. I hope you get things working smoothly so you can get heat to your family through the winter. A sincere good luck. From a group called the Boomers: "The Art of Living" Once in awhile I'll see somebody About to make the same mistakes as me So I'll try to do something good and save them a little grief I'll say, "hey you, get away from that thing It's about as hot as he**!" They'll smile and thank me very much and then Go and touch it for themselves This is the art of living, this is the art of taking and giving Don't tell me what to do I'll muddle my way through Don't make any excuses for me I'll take what's coming my way and be what I will be It's not that I don't appreciate the thought for heaven's sake But I won't lie in any bed that I cannot make This is the art of living, this is the art of taking and giving Now don't go drawing any lines on the ground Somebody always comes along who won't walk around Some are going to lose yeah and some are going to win But everybody gets caught in The art of living...See Morexl 12 chainsaw
Comments (0)Where can i get good info. about repairing my xl 12 chainsaw?? My good neighbor gave me a a homelite xl 12 chainsaw. It appears the saw hasn't been used much. When it was given to me, the starter rope could not be pulled. The flywheel would hang on something. Finally saw a bolt has worked loose and was catching the flywheel. Popped the flywheel off and tightened the bolt. The compression is very good. I do need to replace the gas line for sure. I'm not getting any fire to the spark plug. NOt sure if its the coil or points and condensor. Any advice on this???? Plus, how do i get to the points. sorry, just couldn't figure it out. Thanks, glen...See Moretenazes
