Hard to tell without seeing the rest of the room and how much space is left uncovered by the rug. I adore cowhide rugs, but that one seems awkwardly placed, especially so close to the other.

Is there room to move the sofa to the left or to the opposite wall. The area rug isn't well proportioned for that sofa the way it is positioned as too much of the rug is on the left....but it may work in a different area with less of the sofa sitting on it and a chair on either side of the sofa facing each other. OOPS didn't see the cowhide rug.The photo is quite dark. I don't like the ides of the 2 rugs next to each other. What's to the left of the table and chairs? Do I see another chair? (green) Can you post more photos?

Is that a TV opposite the sofa? Can you easily put it on the wall where the sofa is now? I'd rather walk into the apartment and see a sofa and painting than a TV.

You could also put the cowhide on an angle in front of the sofa and move the the Turkish one under the table and beyond...if there's space. Or put 1 away til you have a larger space or use one in the bedroom.

If the suggestions above don't work, pull the Turkish rug way out from under the sofa so that just the legs are sitting on it. Don't worry if you step on it as soon as you enter the room. Make sure to put some double-sided tape under it in the doorway so no one trips! If you have the sofa jammed to the right ( when you are looking at the photo) because of where the TV is, get a longer cord and move everything to the left. ...you still have space before you get close to the entrance door.

The rug seems a little oversized but I would try pulling it forward from under the sofa a bit and putting the cowhide more over it in a bohemian way

Yes, I agree with groveraxle. The room is larger without the Turkish rug. You might use the cowhide partially under the bed and extending out into the space left of the bed. Can your black bookcase be moved to the wall right of the sofa with the table and chairs where the sofa is and the sofa under the AC unit? Looks like you can move the swagged light fixture wherever you need it.

No to that last arrangement. Try running it from the wall with the headboard under the table and toward the front door. Leave some floor space around it if you can. Then lose the cowhide.

Or leave it under the sofa (though it really is too long) and move the cowhide into the bedroom.

You've got too much rug in too little space, and crowding them together isn't working.

Push the turkish one a little more under the sofa, and the cowide more towards the bed(like under it even). I have no idea if itll work but it costs nothing to try

If the Turkish one were only two feet longer than the sofa it could work. It looks to be an older rug designed for a wide foyer/entry hall in a home of the past. I don't care for the two rugs together. I would use the cowhide under the sofa in cold weather and do without a rug when it is warm.

I could always move it out until I move into a larger space and get a smaller one in the interim. My worry was that my floors looked to bare, but better bare than cluttered?

I agree with several others that your space is too small for these two rugs. They both look to be nice rugs but I actually prefer the cowhide rug in this room. It is hard to tell by the pictures but can it be centred more in the space so that there is more equal space between the rug and the wall?
