Reliability of Jenn-air appliances or what brand should I get
Comments (82)Microwave/oven combo installed in new build 2018. "F2" error message July of 2022, so whole unit out of commission. (Homebuilder has same unit, same outcome.) Jenn-air said right off the bat we'd have to wait a while for the replacement control board. Just had yet another contact with them, during which they insist there's been no recall over that part, but they still cannot provide that part (?) and would I like to put us on a list to go to an internal review board, for consideration of a pro-rated replacement unit. My 2 questions: why would we WANT another Jenn-air?? and if they can't cough up the part because of demand ... how is there NOT a recall? I asked if they couldn't "rob" a part off a set in inventory, and the tech acted like he didn't understand the question. So, here we are. Oh, yeah, and on my first contact, I gave them the model number and serial number, and they asked ME for the part #!! How would I know the damn part #???...See MoreReliable Refrigerators-Do they still exist?
Comments (50)A few thoughts.. 1. OLD FRIDGES. In my twenties I got a 1953 International Harvestor fridge for free. Yes the freezer was small and you had to fill ice trays. However, It ran flawlessly for 10 years and was still running when I moved on for a "better" fridge. Think of that. It ran maintenance free for over THIRTY YEARS! You simply cannot buy a fridge today that will do that. (btw, 66YEARS LATER these are still being traded in running condition on Ebay for $500 bucks or so!) 2. ICE MAKERS. (and thru the door et al.) Talk to ANY repairman and she will tell you that Icemakers and thru door compononets are absolutely the most common repair problem. ESPECIALLY ice makers that are inside the fridge (rather than the freezer) for obvious reasons. (you also give up valuable storage space in the frig) An ice maker in the freezer is best but still subject to failure. However, freezing ice trays is indeed a pain. THE BEST OPTION (compromise). is an icemaker in the freezer that dumps into a tray. 3. ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER BOARDS. Again, high failure rates across the board I don't need a computer screen on my frig. I need a frig and a freezer/ice maker with good lighting inside. PERIOD 4. THE BEST FRIG. Would be a simple good looking Stainless steel frig with a simple icemaker in the freezer. That's it. I haven't found it! If anyone does let me know! cheers...See Moreare GE appliances reliable?
Comments (29)The Most Unresponsive Company I have ever seen! I bought the pair of freezer fridge to the tune of $12,000. After installing I noticed the frame hardware is bowed at the top. Not part of an install, but cam out of the box. I called GE and they sent me to the dealer. I went to the dealer to complain and his unit had the same issue! The dealer sent me back to GE. I had an unrelated problem with the fan shroud hitting the fan so they to send a GE tech to come and look at both. The tech said the trim piece at the top of the unit was too large causing it to bow out! It took weeks for the tech to submit pictures adding to the ones I sent. GE has giving me the runaround and I recently got off the phone with someone who should be fired from GE. She basically said if it's not functional, they won't warrantee it. I consider fitting in the cabinet functional, but she did not. She agreed to send out another tech, but made it clear that if he can't fix that's it. They will NEVER take back the unit. I found her attitude unbecoming of what GE used to be! She refused to accept that it was a manufactures defect and said is maybe was a one of! Who cares! I have an issue and they won't make it right. I would run from this company and its products. This is an attitude that must come from the top and they don't care about their customers. When you spend $12,000 on a product you would think you would get some better treatment!...See MoreLiebherr reliability
Comments (33)When I was buying my kitchen equipment 4 years ago I had the difficult decision on what refrigerator to buy. After much consideration I went ahead and bought the liebherr 24" bottom freezer model. I would without hesitation like to add my name to the liebherr haters club. Over the four years of ownership I have had the refrigerator repaired at least 12 times. I have thrown out enough food to justify the additional cost of a sub zero. I have woken up in the middle of the night countless times with the temperature alarm going off to discover the temp was up as high as 60 degrees. I have unplugged and reset it so many times I can find the breaker in the electrical panel in the dark to make the job easier. I realize I may have had a lemon, and I will give liebherr credit in that they just kept sending service people even after the warranty ended. I suppose because its service life had such a detailed history from the day it arrived. I have thrown away my last batch of food. Today I bought an open box subzero at a discount price. I asked my appliance dealer if when they take the liebherr out of my house to deliver it to the US liebherr headquarters and leave it a their front door. In an effort to be positive, the blue star stove and the bosch dishwasher I bought have been dreams....See Morefunkycamper
