JC Penny COOKS brand vs All Clad
Comments (3)mccall, i'm not sure which jc penney pans you looked at, but Gourmet Standard used to make some pans for them. They're the ones whose pots are sold by KA Flour on their website, and these are made in China, so not AC, as far as i know....See MoreBest cookware from various sets (All Clad/Le Creuset/Lodge
Comments (5)Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. And how smart you are making this inquiry! You can't go wrong with All-Clad, but it's very pricey. IMHO, it's not worth the money. You can't go wrong with the private brands from either Costco or Sam's Club. My Sam's club set is tri-ply and does a beautiful job with whatever I'm cooking. The Costco set has a 5-ply bottome, but it doesn't go up the sides. Regardless, it has wonderful reviews. Go see the sets for yourself, paying particular attention to the weight and balance of the pans. Check out the prices for Le Creuset on Amazon. I have the 5- and 7 1/2 quart round Dutch ovens. (If I were to purchase them now, I would opt for the oval shape. It's more versatile.) Keep the heat down on the stove top and they'll serve you well for the rest of your life....See MoreDo you own All-Clad cookware? Is it worth the price?
Comments (20)The tri-ply Tramontina set from Wal-mart gets excellent reviews, if you'd like a nice stainless tri-ply set without the All Clad price. My sister has it, and I was impressed with it. Light weight, heats evenly, beautiful. Tramontina set Wal-mart also has for sale individually a 12 in. covered saute pan with a handle for $70, and a 4 quart covered casserole pan for $50. Both look useful for family quantities. I'm with golddust re cast iron pans. I bought some rusty old pieces from ebay for $15 to restore & just love them. For light weight sauce pots, though, those Wal-mart Tramontina pots look great. My pots are stainless with a disk bottom, and are heavy & cumbersome for cooking delicate sauces....See MoreAll Clad cookware and induction
Comments (10)I have the GE induction range and All Clad pans. No problems. I'm pretty sure all the all clad stuff is compatible, just check their website. The unit itself has a very, very soft hum/buzz sometimes as it cycles on and off, but honestly I can't even tell if it's always there and I just can't hear it, or if it's occasional. Even normal conversation or prep activities makes it undetectable. You have to be right next to it in a quiet room to hear it. We LOVE the induction and our range. Even my DH, who was skeptical and wanted gas, loves it. Unless something has changed since December, the GE and the Electrolux are the two best options in that price range. There is a wonderful thread on appliances about them. I won't bore you with my selection process, but I have absolutely no regrets and am very happy with the GE. Is there anything specific you want to know about? I just went through this process and own the range you are looking at, so feel free to ask!...See More- 10 years agolast modified: 10 years ago
