size of round bathroom mirror?

We have a 30" vanity going in to our small ensuite. It has a single sconce above.

My contractor has to order mirrors for two other bathrooms tomorrow and has offered to get a round one at the same time. He says they can bevel the edge and I think it will then be glued to the wall.

Number 1: Is this what I want? I mean, rather than a round one bought from a store just hung from a hook.

Number 2: what diameter do I get? 30"? slightly smaller? a lot smaller?

Can you do a cardboard mock up? That will be the best way to visualize what shape and size will look best. Hard for us to suggest anything, since we have never seen the bathroom!

Do you want just a plain (even if beveled) mirror stuck to the wall?

I'd buy one you can hang, and be able to change, if you choose to some day. I agree with mocking it up-- you want everyone with their different heights to be able to see their reflection, as well as have it in proportion to the vanity.

The width of the mirror will be from one wall corner to the shower tile filling the space. Good choice -- this is so much better than small, trendy mirrors that are popular right now. A wider mirror gives you more light in the room /allows you to see your outfit better. I'd stop the mirrors at the top of the shower enclosure.

I would have a mirror madeso it goes all the way to the ceiling, mirror is fairly inexpensive and it will make the room look much bigger, perhaps do one with a bevel. Or if youre buying a framed one u probably are needing a size of 72x48 minimum (that will put it almost to the ceiling and look great :-) Ds

Great idea to mock it up. Unfortunately, the vanity isn't in yet - just a blank wall so far but it would give me a good idea of function - even without the vanity.

I'll see if I can find something to mock it up with. Living in temporary digs so nothing is ever just at hand. And I do have to let him know early tomorrow.

I wonder if I get it a bit smaller, if a frame shop couldn't frame it for me so I could hang it rather than glue it? That would mean I could pick whatever I wanted for a frame rather than finding the "right" one at a store.

I did google images of round mirrors over vanities and many do seem to just be glued to the wall - which i thought would be weird until I saw the pics.

If nothing to mock it up with, just use painter's tape (if you can put your hands on that). Or if it's not painted yet, maybe just a real marker?

FWIW I replaced all glued on mirrors in my home with ones hung on hooks.

I would just buy a round mirror. CB2 has a good selection. As does just about any other place: overstock, wayfair, Home Depot, Pottery Barn, etc.

At that size, I would also just buy a round mirror. We got a pretty etched one for a powder room years ago at a craft fair. (Lowe's also has nice mirrors).
