is my 6' x 11' bathroom idea crazy?
Comments (8)Our current bath is 6x10 and it holds a 42" vanity, toilet and 3x6 shower. We are expanding it to 6x13 so we can have a 6' vanity with 2 sinks, as well as a wall with pocket door separating the toilet and shower space from the vanity. With 6x11, I would have along 1 long wall as you enter the room first a 42" vanity, then an 18" linen tower, then 3' for the toilet, then a 3x6 shower against the short wall at the far end. It would also work with a 3' vanity and 2' linen tower, or 4' vanity, no linen cabinet and 4x6 shower, etc. Is this configuration, the door into the bathroom can be on the short wall next to the vanity and opposite the shower, or on the 2nd long wall opposite the vanity....See MoreBathroom sinks/vanity are IN bedroom, not bathroom- HUH?
Comments (30)My parents house is like that, but there’s a wall with a wide doorway into the area with the vanity, so it’s open but also easy to close off by just putting a curtain rail up. It’s also oriented to the room such that if you only use enough light at the vanity to wash your hands for a midnight potty run, it really isn’t enough to bother someone in the bed if you place the bed sensibly. Getting ready in the morning would be trickier if you needed to do makeup and so on so needed proper lighting, so that’s where a screen or a curtain would come in....See Morebathroom floors-- is it crazy to do solid oak?
Comments (14)recently went looking for wood look tile for a whole house job.... it is worth a trip to Tile town to see what is new in porcelain tile wood look. Fortunately for me within a short drive I can hit like 20 stores and each one has something different. Some from Italy, Spain, China to name a few. Some look like crap, but some look amazing with the new hp laser printing there is literally no repeats in pattern. These high end tiles are not cheap tho.....good ones are 7.00 +/-sq foot. Not bad if just a small area. I would go with a few of your pieces of real wood and see what you find... personally I am not a slave to anything so if water spills I am not going to panic run and wipe it up. Note the problem with this real look tile is they only show you one or two pieces and you have no clue how the other will look, and we find that they won't give samples and they won't let you buy a box and return so for us with close to 3k sq feet it was making my knees week. So we decided on real wood, can you tell me what you chose? and why?...See MoreBathroom door solution
Comments (26)K Sissy, no the pocket door is not an option - the left side is not deep enough (there are support studs in there and the exterior wall, plus electrical) and the right of the doorway is where the plumbing is. We'd have to move the plumbing and completely re-think the shower and bathroom layout and we're not willing to add the extra time and cost to the project. We're moving back in in a few days, and the messy part is all done - they only need to install shower doors now. We are no longer "under construction" just finishing up things. We'll just live with the door for a while, and see how much it bugs us - we may change it to frosted glass, or do the barn door. I also saw the "Magic door" on Houzz, it's an external sliding door with totally hidden hardware - very cool! Something like this could easily be installed later. https://www.houzz.com/products/magic-1800-concealed-sliding-system-for-wood-door-prvw-vr~1056559...See Morebossyvossy
