Comments (22)Back. I'm pleased to report that my DH and I have finally found a location we agree upon. He thought nothing could keep him from lusting after the Caribbean and I love places that have a bigger urban area. Aruba was a compromise that neither one of us loved. PV was perfect. The people are great and the food was terrific! I loved the location by the marina, as it felt like we had two separate vacations. The Marriott was fabulous. We went downtown for four of the days/nights. Never had a bad meal. Daiquiri Dick's was the only place I wasn't nuts about (over-rated and priced, imo). Victor's in the marina was cheap, fun and delicious. We ate there twice. The duck I ordered at Kaiser Maximilian was the only time I wasn't eating fish, of some sort. Caio Tres was a real find. Beautiful place and service, with very low prices considering the quality. Jen, if you eat dairy, their four cheese eggplant dish is supposed to be fabulous. Liked Joe Jack's, too. The only time I wasn't deliriously happy was during the afternoon hours downtown. I really can't take heat in any form (explaining why I like Europe in the winter). My hair ended up being a salt lick most days down there. Next trip (yes!) we'll do that area in the evenings. Soooo, what started up as my "throwing a bone" to DH, has ended up with our finding a new winter vacation locale. Thanks to you, both!! Funky, great to see you pop up on GW! I'll be emailing......See Moreall inclusive family vacations to carribbean?
Comments (3)We took a fabulous all inclusive to Playa del Carmen, which is about 45 miles south of Cancun. Our kids were 12 and 16, and as long as they stayed together we let them have the run of the resort. It was great because they could play tennis, swim in one of the five pools, snorkel, get something to eat or drink etc. They loved going in and ordering all kinds of 'virgin' drinks -very fancy and delicious. The food was excellent. We also took separate snorkeling trips, swam with the dolphins, etc. Beaches are white sand and the water is truly turquoise. Go to tripadvisor.com and search on Playa del Carmen. You'll get great recommendations for places to stay as well as activities....See MoreWhen You Were Married Did You Take A.....
Comments (42)Nope. Did not take much of a honeymoon trip. We married on a holiday weekend (to get the extra day). Traveled about 100 miles away from the wedding site and stayed our first night together in a small hotel. Used the next day to take a leisurely drive back to our first apartment, and on the third day, set up our living quarters. I had started a new job fresh out of college 3 months prior ot the wedding was was due back on the job the next day following the 3 day weekend. My wife had one more year of college and she was busy registering for classes. We lived on ahoestring that first year. My wife graduated the next year and things began to look up economically. But her first year of work was an internship (required for state certification) that did not pay well. Two years later, we started our family and thankfully by then, my job had begun to pay better - enough to support us and new baby. Since that first year, we have taken a sight-seeing trip almost every year for vacation for the next 30 years. We still take trips, but the focus has broadened because we have seen many of the scenic places that were on our list....See Morefurbydaphneoscar
