A fierce Chihuahua ? Really? Any I met seemed quite timid. It's very sad, Deva. She looks beautiful. But you got her to a good age for that breed, if I recall rightly.

So sorry for your loss Deva. She looks very sweet. I like your plant choice.

You should take Bernard up on his offer, perhaps raising this particular plant from infancy will provide some solace for you, and a far more meaningful memorial.

I am sorry too to hear of this..They can be so close, just like family and it leaves such a hole in the heart...I too was thinking 'Black Prince'....It would remind you of the beautiful color your pup was and that she was a princes.

Bernard, thank you so much! Just when I thought I would have my first day since her loss without tears. I appreciate your kindness. I will PM you. And I think Daniel is right. Growing it from just a little baby would be nice.

She was a good age for her breed, but from the time she was a pup I told her that she was supposed to live forever. If only that were possible.

She was also very FIERCE! She was not your typical yippy chihuahua, not a biter either. I got her when I was 16 and she was very well socialized, but she had no problem letting you know if you were pissing her off! I once thought it would be nice to paint her nails. She didn't talk to me for a few days after that! Unfortunately she lost some of that fierceness in her older age, unless you were the vet. I like to imagine her up in doggy heaven, with all that fierceness back, hanging out with her buddy Yogi who passed when she was 4.

Hello Deva, my sincere condolences to you. What a beautiful little angel she was! I know how hard the loss can be. I think most pet owners would agree that they are not just a pet but one of the best parts of a family with their wonderful unconditional love, support & happiness every time they see us. I think the baby black prince(ss) would be a perfect tribute for her. I know we don't know each other but you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care!

I am so sorry. Those fur babies sure can wiggle their way into our hearts....I lost my last two at very young ages (6 and 8), but I know it doesn't matter how long you have them, it's never long enough. It's just a shame that they don't live as long as we do.

I just want to say I am very appreciative of the support and kindness from you all. I received two offers from members to send me plants! I just wanted a resource, I didn't expect to be given one. With all the negativity on most social media, I love that everyone on here is so friendly and supportive. I think our inclination to nurture and grow plants must be indicative of our nature. :-)

Hi, (((((Deva))))). I've owned several dogs in my life, but the one I was most connected to needed help in leaving behind a world that was no fun any more a few years back. Because of how difficult that passage was for me, and because I still grieve his loss, I have a sense of what you must be feeling, and I know it isn't fun. I can tell you that while your grief is fresh, everything seems to irritate it - memories, pictures, a kind word from a near stranger on a forum ...... If you look deep in your heart, you'll know you're weeping for that which has been the object of your love. There is solace in that, and in having been blessed with a relationship that leaves you so profoundly moved at its loss.

Grief is good. It's the medicine that helps you come to grips with the hole in your life, so I wouldn't pray that you might be spared from grieving, only that you should have the strength to endure it and the wisdom to reconcile the fact that the 16 years of joy your friend brought you came with an eventual ending.

When you mentioned Yogi, I thought of this quote:

Thank you Al for your kind words. You are correct, everything you wrote. She was my most dependable friend for a long time, and I don't think I will ever have another dog like her. I think the hardest part was that I had to help her leave this world. I regretted that decision for several days. Questioning if I did the right thing. It's been nearly two weeks now and after much reflection I believe I did what was best for her. I still think of her every day, but I am sure Yogi is happy to have her.

mikerno - unfortunately you don't seem to have the messaging feature enabled. Its okay though, I really dont need anything. Unless you want to send me that little kitty you have a picture of on your page! Is he/she a ragdoll? I had a ragdoll before and she was and awesome cat! My boyfried claims he's allergic and says I cant have a cat now though :-(

Yes, that kitty dies of heart failure not long after that pic..I was heart broken.I feel your pain my friend..I have my 'Bo' though, male Siamese, and I could not even think of not having him around for one moment.)
