From that one photo taken in a showroom instead of in your home's lighting and by viewing it on my device, I'd say the white cabinet makes the counter look yellow. In other words, we can't be of much help under those circumstances.

Based on that picture i agree with mayflowers that the counter looks yellower and doesn't give the marble feel.

Take samples to your house if at all possible and look at them in the light you have.

Thank you for your comments. That's what I was afraid of. Unfortunately our house isn't built yet, but we have to make decisions in the next two weeks. We do have the option of using marble, but I'm worried that it's too high maintenance for a young family with kids!

Ps. Ask your builder if you can choose other quartz brands.

Can you get the cabs in a white that is not quite so white? or is the order in already?

I must agree that the white cabinets make that Quartz sample pretty dingy looking. That marble though is really beautiful with it! But, I get it about the high maintenance. You have to okay with the "patina" as they call it. If you love the look, maybe get a marble sample and do as much damage as you can to it. Maybe the beauty will allow you to overlook the etching?

what is the quartz brand and type? What backsplash have you chosen? What is the brand and name of paint? Makes a difference... Based on photos alone, I vote the marble.

The marble looks great. For the quartz appearing to be yellow/cream - if you were to paint your walls a deeper colour of that and maybe use cream accents, the cabinets may pop against all the cream.

I haven't decided on the backsplash yet, was waiting to pick countertops first. I am considering glass tiles, probably in a neutral color (grey or white). Paint will likely be a light grey by Sherwin Williams as it will be the main color for the entire house.

I do like the marble, but just so concerned about taking care of it. I've not seen marble in anyone's home to see the patina that it develops, so I'm not sure how the appearance might change over time. Unfortunately, I'm not able to "borrow" the marble to test it's durability at home as it's the only sample in the showroom for customers to view.

sorry -- cabinet paint brand and color? And, the name of the quartz you are concerned about. Also, the actual marble may not end up being the same as the sample. FYI -- we ruled out marble for maintenance reasons and it is just 2-5 adults here. But, it is an active kitchen and I just didn't want to deal with wondering as I went to bed each night if I should check for wine or tomato spills one last time ....

Our cabinets are Procraft Liberty Shaker White. I'll hopefully be able to get the quartz name tomorrow!

I did a quick net search and mostly saw black counters with your cabinet paint. Looked very nice. Have you considered going in an entirely different direction? We had cambrian black antique a few houses ago and loved it. ...just a thought.

I was able to find out more about the quartz. It is Cosmos Venatos Quartz.

Nightowl-thank you for your advice. Though I do think black countertops are beautiful, I have wanted an all white kitchen for years, so will probably stick with that!

I just did a search on the Cosmos Venato Quartz. The Cosmos website shows a "Venato Extra" which looks very white on my screen, much whiter than your picture of the sample. Perhaps you could visit the supplier and see what the actual material looks like.

Also, perhaps a brownish gray for the paint and/or the backsplash would tie the colors together.

I agree Junco! I just googled it myself and it did look whiter than the sample I saw in the design center. I may double check to see if I have the right name! I am hoping to visit the supplier and see a large slab, I'm curious to see how the veining looks in person. Our builder did say that someone else recently used this quartz with the same cabinets we've chosen and that they looked good together!

Could you ask to see that kitchen if it's not too far?

Do they have any white solid countertops? Then you could use marble tiles for your backsplash; get your dream without any nightmares!

Speaking of solid white countertops, I just refinished these solid surface tops this afternoon:

Yeah, solid surface has been around for 40 years, but so what? In white, it's the "little black dress" of countertops; it never goes out of style.

This lady got new countertops today for less than $300.00. Her old ones are in the bag of my new $700.00 Festool vacuum.

There is no law saying all the tops have to have the same finish either. You could have a flashy gloss bar with a more practical semi-gloss or matte everywhere else.

Sanitary, salvageable, sexy, and plays nicely with others in the kitchen. What more could you want?

I was just revisiting miss TKO's awesome kitchen and I noticed something....her cabinets are a whiter white which makes her white countertops look an off white, almost turning a yellowish in certain lighting.

I was able to see a slab of the quartz this weekend and though it was hard to see it (it was in the shade), I think it looks whiter than the sample I had!

maven19, even if your home isn't built, why don't you take the quartz sample to your current home and see how it looks with your sample door there? In store lighting is so much different than in our homes. It would give you a better idea than looking at it in the store. Or at least take it outside in dull daylight.

Did you end up using the venato? Would love to see pics of it installed!
