H. grandidieri - The illusive... advise?
Comments (2)Hey Gardeniarose, The cutting is doing well actually... I have not pulled it out to check if it has rooted. But it didn't loose any leaves and it is nice and healthy looking. I am stoked I think I will be successful at this species! :) I'll keep you guys posted! Kindest Regards, -Jc...See Morewinter grow room advise
Comments (5)im going to get a fan and attach it to the bottom half of that split door, so i can keep the top half open and be able to have the air circulate... ill also get a smaller fan for somewhere inside the room so that the air better circulates in there. we have a pellet stove so the air gets quite dry, is there anything i should do besides spraying them to keep the humidity up? maybe put a humidifier in the room with them? i cant wait to get it set up! my husband is actually 100% behind me with this one and is looking forward to helping me create my own space up there. we are talking about someday when we need the upstairs as a bedroom that we will turn this room into a bathroom... im thinking about keeping the plants in there and just puting in a nice big whirl pool tub or claw foot tub so i can soak in there and enjoy my plants. sounds like the perfect stress reliever to me!...See MoreJackfruit Tips & Advise
Comments (19)Most people, me being included, do prefer the crunchy sweet jakfruit. However, there are some, like my neighbors (originally from Trinidad) that wouldn't give you 2 cents for a crisp fleshed jakfruit. They only eat the mushy sweet fleshed ones. The ones that almost gag you as you try to swallow it. I'll never understand why, but it is a fact. I gave two equally ripe fruits from the same tree, one to a Jamaican lady and the other to my neighbors (actually if anything, the neighbor's fruit was more ripe than the other). The Jamaican lady told me her's was rotten and she couldn't eat it and threw it out. My neighbors raved how wonderful, sweet and flavorful the soft flesh in their's was. Go figure. Comments (11)I haven't read what everyone else has done. But for me- I have an upright freeezer/fridge in the house and a chest freezer in the garage. I organize both of them to some degree- I don't use bins just because I don't think it would make it any better than it currently works. It works 'good enough' for me that I don't agonize about organizing it to the nth degree when I won't get anything more out of it than I currently do-- the ability to open the door and grab what I want easily and to keep a fifo rule going. Long term storage goes outside. Also frozen dinners, frozen leftovers, etc. I have three sections. The Left hold fruits and nuts and berries. The middle section left side holds frozen dinners, extra meals, etc. The middle section middle holds the frozen milk and bread. The middle section right holds shrimp and fish, in a box so it will stack nicely. In front of the box is the orange juice cans. The Right section holds vegetables. Then we do have a little hanging basket in there that holds frozen meats. My freezer in my house is organized similarly. The top shelf right holds the meat, the top shelf middle holds the veggies. As I plan my meals weekly and shop every other week, this usually empties out every two weeks which enables me to keep it fairly organized and keeps from getting old meat in there. (IF i hit a sale and buy lots of meat, it goes out side in the freezer, and when I plan meals, I bring in what I plan to cook in a two week period). The bottom shelf holds misc. items such as frzn green chile, cool whip, etc. The door holds frozen nuts, chips etc. Ginger...See Morefurbydaphneoscar
