AGAIN! this is so extremely frustrating, if I was considering buying something I would not because of this BS. It is not that difficult to code a Web page properly! Hire someone who knows how to do it.

My entire reply box is covered by the search box making it nearly impossible to use. Every sentence I try to read is covered by the search box.

The day the sale sign was gone all was well, every time the sale sign is there the rest of the site is screwed up.

??? This stuff is not happening to me. I do see the CMS tag at the search bar but am not in any forced to hover and/click it.

It must be on phones/tablets. My laptop is normal.

Raven is correct.....not hard to correct. BTW I'm on a Mac. Seems like it is always something with houzz. Truth is ~~~~ I would never consider purchasing anything from them, or those products they flog!!!!

The dang sale sign is back. I guess I just need to stop trying to read or post here till the sales are over because it's just too frustrating. I can't see anything other than that stupid search box that just moves down the page covering everything.

Raven, do you not have a Windows computer? It seems to be specific to Android, right? I think that it's more difficult than you might think to design webpages with all possible operating systems and browsers in mind. What browser do you use on your tablet? Problems with all of them or only one?

Raven, today the search box is staying in the white band at the top and not moving down into the message box ~ even with the "CYBER WEEK SALE" notice. Not going to count my chickens before they're hatched though!

I have a desktop windows pc yes but for me it is much easier to use my tablets, easier mobility. The thing is more and more people are using mobile devices especially tablets and this has affected not only android but apple products too. So for a big company not to be able to code well enough to encompass the vast mobile community is just bad business. I have used multiple browsers and I use the most popular browsers on Android, The one that I use daily is based on Chrome. The problem exist on multiple ones.

Yes, but Raven, the problem doesn't happen in Chrome on iOS. Did you try actual Chrome on your Android? Yes, they need to make sure it doesn't happen, but some browsers "have a better idea" and don't conform entirely to the international standards--you're using something based on Chrome because it has a better idea--and some coders prefer one of the non-standards (like IE) as well, so there's a lot of trial and error to learn where the bumps and glitsches are. They fixed JustLinda's, so that's progress.

Not long after the merger, the whole linking system went weird. Tamara told us it was a Firefox problem, so I just posted URL's for a long while. Then one day it seemed to be fixed, and I've been able to post inline links since then. I don't know if it was a change at Houzz or an update to Firefox which fixed it.

Not being able to see and post is a lot worse. And I understand your frustration. Since most people who use mobile devices aren't having this issue, however, I don't think it's fair to say that they're ignoring all mobile users. It definitely does seem to be related to the Sale flag, so they should be able to figure out what's screwing it up, and they should be working on it. I don't know if they actually are, but I think they should be.

Meantime, I'm glad you got on your computer to come and post! We'd miss you mightily if you didn't!

Raven, can you apply a userscript in your browser? (Using something akin to Greasemonkey? Tampermonkey perhaps?) If so, this userscript might help:

Other than the header (the lines starting with //), there's really only two lines of code (JavaScript).

The first line hides the sales tag.

The second line allows the search box to resize to the proper width.

To get an idea whether or not the above would work for you, you could possibly test using a bookmarklet...

(1) Create a new bookmark, name it "fixSearch" or whatever.

(2) Set the "location" to:

As I'm sure you know, you shouldn't indiscriminately copy and run bookmarklets but this one is so simple, you can probably conclude it to be safe?

A different method, if you can apply page styling (CSS), (using "Stylish" or similar) would be to use a couple styling rules like these:

#navSpecialPromoLink { display: none !important; }

.navbar-search-bar { width: auto !important; }

As with the JavaScript, the first line hides the sales tag, the second line allows the search bar to resize automatically.

I agree though, you shouldn't have to do either, it should just work, no jumping though hoops. Why it's not, I don't know, I'm not a programmer.

BTW, I don't have a tablet to test with. And squeezing Firefox (on my desktop) down to a width of 300px doesn't cause the search bar to mess up in the same way yours does.

In other words, being unable to replicate the problem, I have no way of knowing if any of the above is useful to you or not.
