I think it will enhance the look of your granite. I think the current dark cabinets detract. Good luck!

The trick will be to find the right cream/white. Would you consider a very light gray to pick up on the gray veining?

The cabinets are nice as is, but I agree, too close in color to the floor.

Hmm...light gray, I would have to think about that. I didnt realize the veining in the granite. Looking at Benjamin Moore colors right now.

I'd live with it until summer and see if you still dislike it. I would consider adding runners to the kitchen to give it some color. I think that it is all too neutral, not too dark.

I agree that the lack of contrast between the floor and cabinets is a problem and I usually like lighter kitchens myself. However, I agree with practigal. I wouldn't even think about painting the cabinets until I painted the walls the lighter pastel color and put in runners picking up your wall colors and your other accessories, then living with it like that for awhile before making such a drastic change.

Agree with paint, furnishings, area rugs throughout the room first and then living with it for awhile. Now would be the time to bring in an interior designer if you aren't sure about how to bring color into the space.

If you still want more after that another thing to consider besides painting cabinets would be replacing the backsplash with something less neutral that complements the granite and cabinets rather than blending with it. Backsplash is often relatively easy to replace and because there isn't a lot of square footage its not outrageously expensive.

I kind of like the dark cabinets in that big open room, by blending with the floor they don't dominate the whole space and are more of a background to the living area. But a light color would look good too.

Your backsplash doesn't look like an easy color to coordinate with, although it might not be showing color correctly on my monitor.

I agree that you should wait, maybe try out the pastel paint on the walls, get all your furniture in place, and see what you think next spring

I have painted off-white cabinets and although the color is nice, they show every bit of dirt and if they do get a chip they are hard to touch up. I love your dark cabinets and if you do ever get a nick, you can touch up very easy with stain and it won't show. If I ever get to change mine will be your color.

Nice kitchen but there is a lot of beige going on. That's what jumps out at me.

I'd switch out the backsplash tile to a gray/blue-gray tile to coordinate with Bianco Romano's gray veins (I have this granite, too, love it!), repaint the walls and add other color accents before painting the cabs. Those are less costly changes and just might be enough to change the kitchen's mood.

Consider this pairing with Bianco Romano counters. Backsplash tiles are from the Mosaic Tile Company in Chantilly, Virginia. It is Marble and Accents in the color Blue Pearl, http://marblesandaccents.com/glassmosaics.html Walls are painted in Glidden Snowfield. I think it would look just as lovely with your cabinets. In fact, I think they would look better against the warmth of your stained cabs.

I agree with Lisa. The problem isn't so much the cabinets, it's more the paint/backsplash. I'm weird and prefer when woods DON'T contrast. It took me a while to figure it out, though. I'd make all the other adjustments suggested , plus change the hardware. The knobs are too boring. They are big doors with one little bitty knob. Add painted island stools, runners, new bs, etc. Unless you really just want a white kitchen.

Agree with adding some color: can you switch out the pendants, or maybe just get new shades for them in red, yellow or orange? bright colored island stools, runners, wall paint, etc. Once there's (colorful!) furniture & rugs in the adjoining room(s), too, it will look more lively.

I know you have already heard this: paint ceiling white, paint walls desired color, get rid of backsplash and live with it for awhile. I would hate to have you go through all the trouble of painting the cabinets to find out the layout is not desirable. If you do paint, start with the island and try different colors on it, maybe more than just white?

I agree, don't paint. add glass inserts to two of the cabinets. maybe paint the inside or wall paper. use rugs to lighten the floor. it will be perfect.
