Cream, Brown, Taupe & Black Granite??
Comments (14)Thank You All So Much for the suggestions!! I visited the granite slab yard today and it is a bit overwhelming!! My floors are going to be medium/dark oak, the exterior cabinets are cherry stained dark (more brown - no red), The island paints a creamy white (with a glaze - maybe?) and the hood paints the same. Creamy subway tile backsplash, either a limestone (durango cream) farm sink or dark copper, oil rubber bronze faucets and hardware. There is tons of natural light so I dont think it will go to dark. The whole back of the house is windows. But I do need the granite of be in the light/ creamy direction. I did see Cream Boudeaux today and like it. But wondering if it tends to go grey? Any more suggestions would be great. And of course, the pictures are extremely helpful!! THanks!!!...See MoreLooking for paint color to really compliment ornamental granite
Comments (2)Fun problem. This is a really nice stage, isn't it? I'd suggest squinting your eyes from across the room to "see" what color it is overall. As in brownish cream, dirty blonde, greenish gray, etc. Whatever you do, don't hold it 5 inches from your eyes and decide the colors you see that way will work. Since you want walls to complement it, choosing a background that will make it seem even more beautiful by being different, you could take the little-black-dress-for-diamonds approach. It's light, so a darker background would make it stand out beautifully and focus attention on it....See MorePaint cabinets white/cream, will it look nice with granite hardwood?
Comments (45)The last two photos Nosoccermom posted above kind of illustrate why mid tone colors are better with darker wood. If you go with something light, the brown will just pop out. Better to include some lovely artwork or dishware that you want to pop instead. You can get away with using yellow and blue, just not really light yellow and blue. Also, I think the island painted a muted greyish blue would look cool, like those bottom two photos. I got this photo yesterday from the SW Michigan Land Conservancy of one of their refuges, which reminded me of your cabinets! It kinda shows how if you mix dark brown with other similar color tones, it doesn't pop out as much. So the dark colored tree line blends with all the other colors. I does have a tinge of lavender and blue. Not saying I would pick this exact color palette, it's just an example of how you can make brown pop out less....See MoreCabinet Color . . . cream, gray, black?
