How long will bare root rose last?
Comments (4)It depends on how dry the roots got. You didn't really tell us how long it sat out with no moisture. Keep it well watered and keep your fingers crossed....See MoreAnd I'd Rather Have a Root Canal
Comments (11)Oh no....I meant a month piecing it, not the entire process. When you get to the quilting or tying part, that's something else again. I wish I could say I don't have a desire to do a great number of quilts, but I'd be lying. I want to do almost every one I see and this forum isn't much more than enabling me. LOL. I am learning patience, and it's coooooooooooooooming slowly. I know in my heart that if I had taken up quilting just ten years ago, it would not have stuck. I happened on it through serendipity at the exact moment of my life were I make room in my day, no matter how busy, to go into my little world and work on my quilts. I can't NOT do something with something I don't like. I have to do SOMETHING with it, so the effort wasn't wasted, and that something should not be throwing good money after bad, by obliging myself months more of distasteful work. I do love this quilt, sigh, and that's the problem, it was just that for once, I listened to my little voice who said that I wasn't likely going to finish it. The pillowslips ....well I can see the end of the tunnel almost from the beginning and I'll enjoy them. I just wondered if other people got epiphanies about a quilt and what makes them decide it isn't for them....See More1 root canal done, 1 or 2 to go...........
Comments (7)When a tooth dies, a root canal can not be far behind. I've had several. A tooth may die from several causes, one being infection. Diabetes is a factor. A trauma such as a blow to the tooth severe enough to loosen it may cause trouble several years later if that tooth dies. Its no fun, but a good root canal can be a saviour. I've got root canals that are 30 years old. If the tooth was infected and a root canal performed, it is critical that the infection be eradiacted before the tooth receives it final, permanent plug. The ususal drill is to open the tooth, medicate it, stuff in a temporary plug, pull the plug and re-medicate it once a week for one or more sessions until the infection is gone, and then install the permanent plug. If the permanent plug is placed before all the infection is eradiacted, the infection may continue necessitating a re-do of the entire process....See MoreYikes.....root canal is in my future!
Comments (31)I've had several and its nothing to fear. There's some discomfort during the numbing process with the needle, but after it takes effect, you don't feel any pain. It is a 2 step process. For the first session, the root of the tooth is cleaned out and a temporary plug installed. An impression may be taken if a restorative crown is needed. The dentist sent me home with a prescription for a narcotic pain killer in case I needed it. However, in my case, the area stayed numb for a couple of hours and after that, I did not need any more pain management. In a week or two after the dentist is sure there is no infection in the tooth, he'll remove part of the temporary plug and install the permanent filling. If a crown is to be fitted, he may install a post on which to secure the crown. In many cases, the second session can be done without numbing since there will be no nerves in the tooth. The cost varies considerable depending on what is needed. The lowest cost is for a simple root canal and no work on the tooth, The next level up is if a crown has to be installed and the metal chosen for it (gold alloy is the most expensive). The 3rd cost level is when a ceramic crown (with post) is installed. I recently had this type since the entire top of my tooth broke off at the gum line. I mentioned that it was a 2 step process, but it can be more if the bone socket is infected around the tooth. The dentist will take measures to insure the infection is cleared up before proceeding (after the first step). This can take 2 to 3 weeks and the tooth is opened each time, inspected, and packed with medicine until the infection is gone....See MoreKonrad..just outside of Edmonton Alberta
