It took a while to understand and I also have a friend who announces new threats that FB has put upon our safety. I have not changed to messenger and know others have used it for awhile and wanted me to. Why? My bank credit card was used by an owner of a restaurant who had my receipt from the week before. The man wiped me out without swiping it or getting my signature. Yeah, I have gone after him. My bank investigators got him right away - when I notified them. It is disturbing in many ways. I caught him also swiping it twice and one of those swipes had no signature. It went thru my bank. Scary. Privacy is uncertain anywhere. Pay with cash some say. Need documentation for some things like overcharging. Thanks, Mary for the adblocker info. No, I didn't know I could do that. It is great news to know the site online I looked at shoes yesterday won't show up on FB the next day. I am a student to all of you and do listen. I come back here to just read. Also on FB there are come-ons within the postings. One yesterday shouted "Would you like to know more about your neighbor?" and a link. There were hundreds of people who responded with a resounding NO. FB lets us learn hard lessons on our own while counting the cash they made off of the deceitful people. I detest it but use it to keep up with friends - like everyone else. Next up I will ask u all how to get my "downloaded to PC" IOS pics and videos landing in the right direction and do I have the right software and other hard stuff to easily send them to FB and other places. I think most of you are Android users. But I will wait and let you digest the conundrums I have place on you so far.

Found out...click on the X that appears when you hover your mouse over a particular friends game story..click on the x and a few options will appear..there is a delete...hide all posts from this friend...or hide game posts from this friend...I chose the later and works like a charm

I know more people who love Facebook than feel about it as I do. If it works for you - great! I did indulge myself in it for quite some time, but since I've distanced myself I find that I resent the notion that it's something that suits all of us. I blame the media and Corporate America in general. If I want to know more about a product, I'm encouraged to "Like" the manufacturer on Facebook. If I want more news from my local sources, I'm encouraged to "check out our Facebook page for more info." It's so much more than just a widely used social outlet - there's a thinly veiled insistence that we assimilate or be left out. And I don't take well to anyone even so much as hinting that I assimilate. ;-) Facebook brought me together with a large number of people from my past, and in most cases it became evident to me quickly why we parted ways and our relationship was left in the past. A couple of people were even downright nasty; one man that I'd dated very briefly in high school made a blatantly homophobic comment when I said something on my page in support of my gay cousin's rights (or lack thereof, I should say). For me, Facebook was largely a lesson in how life moves on and why. Too, when I found msyelf taking photos with the thought of the subject matter being something cool to post on Facebook, I knew it was past time to call it quits.

Hi again. This has been a good, well-rounded conversation. Other than a little concern on privacy issues, I liked Facebook. Take that for what it is worth from someone who was there less than two weeks. LOL. My personal experience was "you don't know if it's for you until you try it" and realizing that I prefer smaller, more intimate groups. As to wondering if there were any problems occuring with deactivation, I had read of those who continued getting email, especially ads. Thanks to those who said how much they love it. That is quite understandable if your family is spread far and wide; mine is not, we are fortunate to have most everyone very close at hand, easy for us to visit each other or to pick up the phone. That is far from true for most today. Am also not interested in the games features. Thanks also for the info on deletion. Admittedly, I did not know that deactivation did not mean all my information would be gone and appreciate knowing that. This is a great place for hearing all angles and allowing one to make more informed decisions. You are all terrific!
