To Bidet or Not to Bidet - and if so, which one?
Comments (18)>>Basically, sanitary reasons historically when no electricity availableAnd since we do have electricity available, there is no reason for a separate bidet? Is that what you're saying? Looks like you have to have your pants and undies completely off for a free standing bidet and that seems like a lot of extra trouble. Looks like the amt of water that sprays from geyser would take a washcloth or handtowel for drying. The Washlet has two rear washes with multiple speeds and one front with the same multiple speeds. All can oscillate and or pulse. Water temp varys from cold tap to about 102 or more (maybe). Has an air deoderizer and dryer. Let's not forget about the heated seat :) I don't know, maybe there is something more desireable about the stand alone bidet but I haven't figured it out :) And if I ever move (doubtful) the original seat is going on the Toto and my Washlet is coming with me! :) Monica...See MoreOminous development on the bidet seat front
Comments (3)I think Crane is part of that group too. Inax can still be found in the US if you look for it - Amazon shows several models. But their service/parts organization is probably not that extensive. There's all kinds of nice plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, and appliances that are impossible to find the US. Japanese stuff at least has the advantage of usually running on 120v / 60Hz unlike European imports....See MoreBrondell swash 300 bidet toilet seat
Comments (3)I don't have experience with the Brondell, but I love having an advanced toilet seat. I have 2. Guest drop their jaw and snicker. Oh well. I put my first one in the first bathroom that I remodeled which happened to be the more public bathroom. I got an INAX, top of the line. It is wonderful, but is not distributed to the US any longer. Herringmaven, had a lot of comments on GW over the last few years, on advanced toilet seats. Herringmaven no longer posts, with the Houzz change, I believe I'd seen one or 2 post only, but no longer. I have a Novita for the second bathroom and I like the features but lots of them are really not needed. So your basic seat sounds very practical. I would say you don't need a dryer. I never use it. I just blot dry, it takes too long to blow dry, lol. The warm seat is nice in the winter. The water heating reservoir vs the endless hot water supply is something to consider if you need more time with water irrigation or what ever, but for just general hygiene, the constant hot water flow is not necessary IMO. The wall remote is nice but handheld would be easier sometimes, depending on location for wall remote. And if you have a good place to store the handheld. I can't read my Novita wall remote because it is all digital, with lighting that is not visible if angled wrong from your view. I mounted it below my eye level which is not helpful. My INAX has black print and with raised smooth bumps for the switches for easy access. The Novita has so many options that it really is a waste for me. Deoderizing feature waste of $, I do like having 2 wands. Realize that you will have to sit way back on the seat to access the sprays. Both mine require this and I think it takes getting used to from what I have read on GW. Be sure to really know how your seat will connect to your intake water and to your toilet tank. The INAX was a breeze! Great couplings. While the Novita was much more complicated, though offered a water filter. Good Luck. I would never be without an advanced toilet seat again : )...See MoreConnecting American Standard Bidet to Toto Wall Mounted Toilet
Comments (8)It's always fun finding aftermarket kits when you try to fit a chevy engine into a Jaguar. I was lucky ones in the early 80's when I installed Chevy big block engine into a Jaguar and I believe the conversion kit was only available and would work only on cars no later than 95 or 96-year Jaguar. :-) That being said I doubt anyone makes it Universal bidet mounting kits for a seat to fit any toilet... If that's the route you want to take, go on Alibaba website and find a bidet seat there for a few hundred dollars Something Like This. and contact the manufacturer and see which model toilet that will fit. Just make sure you not gonna get electrocuted or something will melt on your behind because who knows what they add to their plastic composites :-) As you know cheap always ends up being expensive. Good luck...See MoreRelated Professionals
