Hey, I really had to search for this thread!! Well I'm down to 3 monarch cats, 1 5th instar, 2 3rd. WHOOHOO!! 7-8 chrys. Haven't collected any new eggs, orchard just sprayed again yesterday, so I'm assuming it's safe to mow the lawn so I can get some safe milkweed again. Well I'll probally check for survivors first, I know a week or so ago there were all kinds of eggs again, but I just didn't have the food to bring them in. I have one cat I've just been keeping an eye on, living on my butterfly weed, he should be off to pupate any time now. 5 of the 6 BST's I brought home have pupated, one working on it. And still have the 3 lil BST's who are starting to eat like crazy! I'm glad for the semi break though. I don't see how some of you raise so many monarchs by feeding individual leaves!! I much rather use plants in vases! Being left w/ only my butterfly weed to feed was insane! 3-4 feedings a day! And yes, I even did the middle of the night feedings on occasion! I didn't even have that many cats!

ok what about when a grafted tree blooms when it is small and the branches are not very long. will it continue to bloom at those lower branch locations even when it is quite old in essence having the whole tree producing fruit, the lower and top end? or does the node count change to higher requirements as the tree gets larger for it to produce fruit at? nero, A grafted tree is created with a mature scion. The scion never forgets its node number....could be something like, who knows?, 100,000 or a gazillion, depending on where it came from. Any branches that shoot from it will begin their node count at the scion's count, if that makes sense. ANY branches that come from it will be capable of bearing no matter how large or small the tree. To my knowledge branches cannot revert back to juvenile once their mature. Kind of like have you ever seen English ivy growing up a tree, then all of a sudden it matures into a more shrubby-like thing? It grows branches and the leaf shape changes. If you take cuttings of this mature growth, it will retain its shrubby character and not revert back to its juvenile viney character.

Hey, I was perusing the Cabinet Authority website (great, user friendly site BTW) and they have a beautiful buttercream finish with a white glaze that I thought was just lovely. I could probably go with plain shelves that that cab... just putting my lobster pot and a couple other tall pots. Don't have to go after them very often, that's true. Someone said not to go wider than 36" on deep drawer bases, so that's why I left it that size. Will the floor of the drawers be safe at that width? I will need a 42" base for the sink, yes. The clearance under the sink (best I can tell) would be an 11" wide area on the left and just over a 13" space on the right. I could def. mount a couple pull outs on the floor of the cabinet for something or other. I will make sure of clearances for the pantry. Really want to squeeze at least an 18" wide door on the pantry to the right of the fridge. That pantry will be like a 'blind cabinet', extending behind the side of the 15" deep pantry on the east (fireplace) wall. So the space showing for the door will be approx 21" wide. I was thinking right side hinges with a 2" clearance on that side and an inch next to the fridge? I thought in that 'hidden recess' area I'd have 15" shelves and then leave the rest open for brooms, mops, probably recycling etc. The 15" deep pantry on the FP wall: I'd like to have drawers but I don't know if that would be useful to have such shallow depth drawers? Maybe someone has them out there in GW land and can weigh in? I'd have just fixed 15" shelves in the upper part then. Yeah, I know the top of the fridge is unusually gross and greasy. Probably should have doors there but I was thinking it would be a good place to show off my father's giant wooden Ceasar salad bowl. The thing is about 2 feet around so it doesn't fit on any normal shelf! As for cabs: I'm really liking pics of cabinets made with fir.
