Miele makes excellent dishwashers. That's a fabulous price. However, these days any dishwasher without a cutlery tray will not give you the same capacity as a DW with a cutlery tray. Have you looked at Bosch? I would see how that stacks up for features & quietness vs price.

Re the silence -- if you go with a Miele there is a whole special way it needs to be installed so it's as quiet as it can be. You can't just pop a Miele into the same 24" opening as an American brand. The opening needs to be narrower. Miele also requires an electrical outlet for the DW. Those also can affect cost.

For non-integrated install, Miele has filler panels (white, black or stainless). Either Bosch or Miele will need filler for 24" opening. These panels are visible from outside, therefore they may not be suitable for integrated install (one still wants a 24" door for 600 mm DW). But, in such case, one can fabricate a pair at a plastic shop at pretty low cost.

It is possible to hardwire Miele DW (at least some models, if not all). The instruction sheet shows how to do it, pretty straightforward. If an electrical outlet will be installed, it should be in the adjacent cabinet.

I have never owned a Miele without a cutlery tray, but I can say that this is one of the features that makes it possible to really pack the unit full and take advantage of the superior cleaning performance.

We are in the States, but looking at Miele Canada, I'm not sure why you would need to go to $2299 to get those features. The Futura Crystal (which we have) has the 3D Cutlery Tray, flexible baskets, and is plenty quiet. To the posters' points above, you will need to do some insulating if filling the spot vacated by an American-style DW. We recently self-installed our Miele and while it's just as quiet as the GE it replaced, I know it will be quieter when we get around to building out the cabinets around it or adding some insulation.

Enough cannot be said for the cleaning ability, though. I had Mieles when living in France years ago but had always settled for American machines here. If you've never used one, you may not believe a disgusting lasagna pan can be put in, unsoaked, and come out spotless -- but it can. Same for heavily used skillets and bakeware. We also load it HEAVILY and everything comes out spotless as long as water can reach the item by some nook or cranny. It's a joy to cook again and not worry how many pans and dishes are being used.

It's a different pump, I think. This one does wash both baskets at once, while the other pump has a diverter in it that switches between the spray arms.

46dB is fairly quiet and the cleaning performance between this one and the 6305 should be pretty much the same.

I suppose you can buy the Extra Comfort baskets from Miele and then sell your unused ones - but these baskets are expensive for what they are.

I retrofit a Miele dishwasher into an existing cabinet that contained a GE Potscrubber dishwasher for 20 years. The contractor was able to make it look like no change had been made.
