Husquvarna PTO clutch problem?

The blades on my mower stopped turning.

I checked and found that the wires were broke going to the clutch and the belt had jumped up above the pulley. So I thought the belt may have broke them.

I spliced them, pulled the wires up tight so that they would be far away. It worked for about 10 minutes and they broke again. The belt was still in place.

I checked the pin that holds the clutch to keep it from spinning and it is in it's place.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

I don't have a way to get the mower up high enough to see everything. I'm going to buy a lift from H.F. this afternoon when I get off.
