Hollies starting to color up!

I posted this in the Shrubs Forum, but realized that a number of these are small trees.

In any case, I really appreciate hollies this time of year. Their deep green glossy foliage is at its best and the ornamental berries are starting to color up nicely. In late winter the birds will have removed all but a few. I'm fine with that!

This is a latifolia x cornuta hybrid:

Mary Nell is a bit behind the others in depth of color, but berry display is ample:

Nearly spineless Ilex x wandoensis. Berries are very large!

Nellie Stevens never fails with a large berry set:

Even though this variegated aquifolium rarely gets berries, sometimes the newest growth is an attractive reddish purple.
