The more I think about it, without an emotional or 'girlie' response, the more I CANNOT believe GW would be allowing malware knowingly! If they have a sponsor ad with it in it, I hope they will do all they can to dispense with it and those responsible for it!! Cyber *intrusion* is a reality I'm afraid and most of us will encounter some level of it if we are actively using our computers. The most we can do, is make sure our protection is always updated (I failed to do that on one) and that we take the next step from 'free' to a more advanced protection (I've done that) and be sure we have them properly registered when we go that next step (failed to do that with Malwarebytes, as I mentioned before). As I pointed out, Malwarebytes did not proactively 'block' the IP I detailed above until I not only had gone the next level, but registered it then BINGO--there it was!!!

I like the new version. Have put it on several computers and had no problems. Perhaps try uninstalling it from control panel and then when all is done, run its cleanup uninstall tool. I think WOT has more to do with a site's trustworthiness (mostly?) as reported by other WOT users? I find it especially useful when searching for info. I mean when I get a whole page of search results, sites I know nothing about, I look down the list, and I see "Green lights", "Yellow lights", and "Red lights". I get some sort of clue as to which are safe to follow though on, and which I should probably avoid. I usually take time to rate and review as "Questionable" any site that I find spamming it's product, spyware or not. Here is a link that might be useful: WOT videos.

I use the Sea Monkey browser and it has a small plug in called Adblock . It blocks most pop ups by blocking the content from displaying. You might want to try it.
