Need Help Please- Need Tree Recommendations
Comments (6)Thank you scotjute and bboy for helping much appreciated. I live in Madera, California, summers are HOT! Triple digits (100-112) June thru August. Winters are cold with temps dropping down in the low 30's. My backyard faces East so I get Sunshine all day long. That section in the picture gets sun exposure for the greater part of the day. There are no other trees planted within 800 feet with exception to the the 80 acres of almond trees just planted last week directly behind my house. I do not prefer pine trees nor any trees that have any type of sticky fruit droppings or sap like substances as I plan on having a BBQ island and seating in the very near vicinity. I hope this information helps. I will check back in tomorrow. Thanks again !! :)...See MoreHedge of OGs - your recommendations please!
Comments (15)Depends on whether or not you also wish to view the grasses from inside. If so, either the C.x a. 'Karl Foerster (although it is taller in flower) or the Panicum. The Panicum v. 'Shenandoah' is great in full sun; so would be 'Heavy Metal,' 'Dallas Blue,' or a somewhat new one, 'Warrior' (sometimes called 'Squaw,'), which seems to be as red or redder and more purple in flower than 'Shenandoah' or 'H. Herms.' Panicums are a good foot shorter in flower (5') than the 'K. Foerster.' Another grass, judging by your photo, that would look good there is Achnatherum calamagrostis (aka Stipa c.). Grows to about 3' in flower, with pale green inflorescenses as early as late June. Foliage turns tawny in autumn. Likes moist but well drained soils and full sun. The 'Karl Foerster' and the Achnatherum are cool-season growers, so they will grow, green-up and flower earlier in the season. Panicums are late starters (warm-season) and tolerate (doesn't mean "prefer") dry conditions, but only once established. Generally, the cultural requirements for these three genera are about the same. [A soaker hose might be useful.] If your summers are hot AND humid, go with Panicum....See MoreRecommend your counter depth side by side fridge please!
Comments (2)I just bought a new one a month ago. I was almost crazy looking at different ones and going over measurements and prices. I looked at the KA and also at the Whirlpool and GE thinking I would get the Whirlpool. Lowes would have to order it so I happened to check this place closer to me, an independent guy that was a Maytag dealer and since they are now Whirlpool he could get me one but he also sold Frigidaire. He had one in stock--just what I needed and it was $400 less than Lowes(for the same model) plus free delivery and haul away of theold one. This ref. makes more ice than any I have ever had.(also has setting for extra ice if needed). It has an air filter inside to keep out odors, sliding, spillproof shelves, also an elevator shelf rolls up/down plus adjustables in the door. Has a meat drawer that you can even set to keep the meat at 32 if need be-this is in the ref. side. The freezer has door shelves and tilt out racks plus baskets in the freezer plus it holds frozen pizza's(Digorno size). This guy also services so I figured I could get him quick if need be--hope not needed! I talked to a couple of servicers before and they said they are all about the same now days. I did go through several on line repair forums reading about fridges and there wasn't that many bad things about Frigidaire. Did read that a few years ago they had some problems but got those worked out now so I hope so. I would think a KA would be good also. Check the repair forums and see if you see many people write in about KA. Hope this helps and good luck shopping. For the money I couldn't have gotten more features than I did with the Frigidaire....See MoreNeed Your SUV or AWD Vehicle Recommendations (Non-Luxury)
Comments (60)Along the lines of what Funky said, in 2015, I bought a used Lexus RX350, with low mileage that looked new. Its been great to haul dogs, compost, small trees, you-name-it. Brace yourself - I bought it after seeing it on Craigslist, and doing careful researching and having it checked out. It's incredible. A friend has a Toyota 4Runner that he loves, but he says the Lexus has more zip. It's called a crossover, meaning "the difference between the two is simple: A crossover is based on a car's platform, while an SUV uses the chassis of a truck. The result is that crossovers use "unibody" architecture, meaning the body and frame are one piece, while SUVs use a "body on frame" design." I also have a WONDERFUL place in Maine that services it for much less than the local dealership. They are all former dealership employees and do not try to up-sell anything like the dealer. I wish everyone had access to a place as nice as this one....See MoreTommie Cornelius
