Help choosing front load Washer/Dryer
Comments (4)Hi, I myself purchased the LG WM2487 washer with DLE7177 dryer in the ferrari red! However, if I was to restrict myself to under $1600 USD, I would probably go with the Bosch Nexxt 500 or the Samsung 316LAS or the LG WM2277 with matching dryers for a set. If you wanted a cheaper dryer, you might be able to step up in the washer category, but I don't see any real reason too unless you want the Steam cycle as I did or a different colour as I did or lastly, a larger load capacity. Those three washers are all excellent machines and certainly would have you on your way to meeting your budget restriction....See MoreNeed help choosing FL Washer/Dryer, Bosch 800, Samsung, LG ?
Comments (14)mysteryclock I just had my Axxis dryer fixed once and for all. What an ordeal. Really would have been easy if I got the right repairman right off the bat. I've been all over this forum trying to figure out what has been up with my machine. I knew it wasn't right. It just took forever to dry and then eventually i kept getting this huge puddle of water under the machine after a while. It was drying sometimes and acting funny at others. Ultimately after 4 service calls and replacing all the parts on the entire dryer, it turned out to be the heater. For anyone with a condensation dryer, i cannot stress this enough- get your machine checked once in a while. I had 4 blissful years with it and it was telling me gently that something was wrong by slowly wigging out. If i would have had it looked at when it was just acting weird, I would have had to replace far less! I got a GREAT Bosch tech, who i would highly recommend to anyone in the LA/Pasadena area. It took me a while to find him but he fixed the problem in less than an hour once he diagnosed it. If anyone wants to have their Bosch or other German appliance fixed, call Ricky at Appliance Masters. I've heard some of their techs are not so hot. This guy was a senior tech and he was the best. After all the drama with this machine and service call after service call, i'd say this guy has a halo and angel wings! He fixed it in less than a hour once the parts were ordered. These high end German appliances are great unless something is off. I have had probably 5 repairmen with my various German appliances in the last 6 months. All of the good ones said the same thing- great appliances unless you are having a problem with them. I guess the moral of the story is- it's better to pay a bit to maintain and get check ups once in a while rather than wait until the machine goes up in flames or in my case out in a puddle of vaguely warm water. All it needed was a new heater, not a complete overhaul, which i wound up with anyway. In my house full of Gaggenau, Liebherr and Bosch, call me converted. I'm going to get these insanely expensive appliances looked at frequently so they stay calibrated. It seems to make all the difference in the world. I'm humbled and feel kind of bad that this was such a colossal headache. I still love my washer and dryer. It's the best purchase I've made, with a close second being the Gaggenau dishwasher. I love me some German appliances!!...See MorePlease help me decide on a new washer and dryer set
Comments (4)I absolutely love my Maytag Bravos washer/dryer set. The washer is an HE toploader. I have the best of both worlds -- low water usage, huge capacity (I can wash a king-size comforter and 2-3x the laundry I could wash in my former washer), I can soak clothes (very important to me), the high spin speed spins so well, laundry dries quickly, and I can add clothes as long as the Add A Garment light is on. Because of the huge capacity, I only wash 3-5 loads max per week, whereas I used to wash 7-10 loads per week. This has made an appreciable difference in our utility bills....See MorePlease help me pick a washer dryer!
Comments (2)I have a LG washer/dryer model WM3360HVCA (washer) with matching dryer. I love them, or rather I should say I love it since I only have the washer hooked up. I'm planning to stack them in a closet which I'll have to spend money to have a new outlet put in and front of the closet expanded out. It washes very well, it's gotten out stains that were in some clothes that had been washed at a commercial laundromat. I purchased these last year so they don't have the shortened cycles like the newer ones but I don't mind since I no longer work and I have a lot of time on my hands but generally the cycles can range anywhere from 45 mins up to 2 hours depending on wash cycle selections and added selections like pre-wash, extra rinse and spin cycle. There is a speed wash selection but I'm yet to use it. They come in all the colors you mentioned, I have have the Titanium (gray) but red will cost you more. I'm in NYC so the washer is on a wooden floor, there is very little vibration I can feel it only if I'm standing directly in front, but as long as you make sure your washer is level the less vibration. The only times I've experienced any large amount of vibration was due to having bulky items in when spinning and also the fact I didn't have the machine very level and I corrected that. I also make sure I select the Bulky/Large cycle selection and it spins no higher than medium for bulky items. There are 5 spin options, extra high, high, medium, low, and no spin. It has a total of 12 wash cycle selections including Sanitary which is for heavily soiled items that you can wash on high heat being that is the NY area that really comes in handy in case of bed bugs. There's an Allergiene cycle that you can use steam heat to really remove those allergens from your bedding and clothing, I like this feature too since I have allergies and asthma. O'k, o'k I know I sound like a commercial but I really do like doing laundry now.lol I really like this machine. It's energy efficient. 100 kWh -- estimated yearly electricity use, $9 estimated yearly operating cost Dimensions: 77 1/2 inches high 27 inches in width 29 3/4 inches deep, + 4 inches needed for between machines and wall. Dryer can either be vented from the back or left side. The newer models really don't seem to have many differences other than instead of 4 buttons 3 buttons are on the front panel and they consolidated another feature somewhere else, that's the models that are equivalent to the ones I have but the models with the square doors are the ones that have the shortened wash feature and are higher in price. A while back someone had a video up of an Electrolux. I was impressed by how it didn't move at all during the spin cycle. Before I got the LG I looked at a few Electrolux, loved the blue color (my favorite color) but they seem to run larger than other washers/dryers and cost more. Hope I helped and didn't give you information overload.lol Oh and lastly I purchased mine from Best Buy, I didn't have any problems and I got them both on sale. Home Depot also carries LGs, best to watch out for the sales (usually around the holidays)and sometimes buying on-line may be cheaper. The dryer I purchased on Black Friday for almost half the price at Best Buy but Home Depot also offered the same deal....See MoreRelated Professionals
