How to treat this window wall? Pls Help!
Comments (12)I doubt they'd be the cost of a new truck but I remember they were more than we wanted to spend. Don't have a pic of the room, per se, but I had a few stored on Photobucket for paint and shade ?s. The windows aren't as nice as your mom's, just insets. The great room is the one that we've put off finishing until last. After we bought the blinds for the bottoms, there was still too much sun coming in so we ordered five more for the top windows. We have to finish the fireplace so I don't show pics of the whole room. It's a work in progress. If you get woven blinds, I'd just get them without lining. East sun shouldn't be too bad for her and the lining isn't a thing of beauty from the outside. Lax, you're the poker player, aren't you? DH and I love Texas Hold-em. Comments (9)Here's a teaser! Two side by side motorized drop shades with Somfy motors. Phifer 1% openness in nearly white color. Opened to halfway right now... can retract all the way up or go to the floor. Two little things still need to be resolved... first is that the Somfy motors appear to have different quality though they are the same product. One moves twice as fast as the other. Not a very magical or elegant solution. Anyone experience this before? Second is that the weight bars on the bottom are a little too wide and bump into the walls / each other when moving... gotta trim them....See MoreWindow coverings: How would You dress this window?
Comments (15)You could remodel that hearth and do away with the part near the window :) I like the idea of hanging the panel on the left side of the window and just living with the weird drape over the mantel when they are closed. But I think I would put up a ceiling height valence and do wood blinds. You can change the fabric of the valence as you wish to change the look and the wood blinds are gorgeous and give a room a nice feeling.if you are worried about the height of the blinds then do the top up/down honeycomb ones in a similar color to the walls to make them visually smaller. The window will still be the star of the show and the valence will be the supporting cast that draws the eye....See MoreHow would you treat this beautiful but dark built-in of my Tudor?
Comments (55)@arcy_gw, yes, I don’t like the stair spindles either. The plan was to paint them, but the painter did not feel I would be happy with the result because they are heavily distressed and where to start and end was problematic. Or maybe he was burned out. We will likely replace the stair railings down the line. @jjam, the hardwood floors are actually white oak, not red oak, as originally suspected. We used the Bona system: Bona NaturalSeal x 1 coat, followed by Bona Traffic HD Commercial Extra Matte x 3 coats (2 would have sufficed - the third was precipitated by a goof that couldn’t be fixed with spot coating). Love them!!...See MoreButternut
