Cl Perle d"Or?
Comments (25)Closer examination has me backtracking on "totally thornless" - there are actually a total of 5 small, curved thorns near the bottom of the plant. Rosefolly, just how thorny are your Perle d'Or plants? HMF says, "Short, thornless (or almost)." We know the "short" adjective isn't so applicable in our area; is "thornless (or almost)" also a bit of an understatement? HMF says "thornless (or almost)" about Climbing Yellow Sweetheart, too. Jackie, will definitely post a photo when it blooms; hopefully it will settle the question. I'm with you on Climbing Yellow Sweetheart -- I wouldn't be devastated if it turned out to be that! Phyllis Bide is more thorny than this plant, as I recollect, Rinaldo, but she has similar coloring and definitely is "around", so could be a possibility. Debbie...See MorePerle d'Or
Comments (6)With the reflexed petals this rose looks like Greta Garbo or someone in the movies wearing a deep vee neckline! Not the usual - very refined. Thanks for the look! Carol...See MoreThorniness of Perle d'Or
Comments (27)Kippy, I want you to know that you've earned enabling points... I just ordered a band of 'Lady Ann Kidwell' from Burlington. Kim should probably get some points too, since it turns out I do have some permutation of Cecile Brunner, although I didn't realize it at the time. This can happen when one takes cuttings from unlabeled roses. She's probably the once-blooming climber, since she has gotten too tall for the 6' bamboo trellis my husband improvised for me last month. I measured her earlier with our meter stick (a holdover from the days when many Americans thought we were going metric), and she's now over 2m tall, measured from the dirtline. Looking forward to receiving 'LAK', Virginia...See MoreIs it Perle d'Or rose?
Comments (15)ChIming in from Texas, that looks like my PdO when the weather is cooler, and yes we do have cool weather here, it's not hot all of the time. When the weather warms up my PdO is more of a apricot color and is never orange and looks like the pictures above. I would say you have the correct rose. It has been one of my best roses too, never has any BS and is always in bloom. Mine is going on it's 4th year and has grown as tall as up to my shoulders. I think you will really like this rose....See MoreUser
