Thanks Ken for your response. I'm sorry I'm not perfect. Just so you know, I DO now how to properly mix bug spray with the correct amount of water. Secondly, I've only lived there a a year and a half, so I'm by no means an expert at planting. So I"ll plant them further away in the future. I had a tractor dig up 6 feet tall hedges from the same bed, though I admit they are not the same kind of plant, so I can't expect the same results. Although I do have another shrub of the same kind in the back yard not next to any concrete and it looks like it has been eaten as well. My wife wanted them planted close because we had flowers planted in front of them. I will do it differently next time. As for weather, we had a fairly mild winter. I'm uploading a pic (that isn't great quality) but it is showing one of the prints in the bed and in the yard. I still think deer are having their way with them, even though yes, my location of planting and conditions could have a say in it. It looks like a hoof print to me, rather than an armadillo digging, of which I've seen many. I used to live in Texas and we had them all over. If leaves are dying, that's one thing, but I'm not seeing that many leaves on the ground around the shrubs. I'm seeing leaves missing. This may not pertain to this thread per se but I thought I'll go ahead and chime in to talk about my 8 foot moringa tree. Like the katuk leaves, the leaves of the moringa are very bitter and taste sorta like mustard green mixed in with ampicillin! You gotta get the hang of it or else you'll freak out and never touch it again. Definitely not for the kiddish in heart. Guess that's why it is considered so nutritious lol Here is a link that might be useful: neat website

donna- I usually give the new growth, the little tips of the new growth, a spray after a rain or shower. There's no need to ever water the plants leaves, all the water absorbed by the plant comes from the roots. Why this stuff works is because deer don't eat meat(protein). Eggs are protein, so they are naturally turned off by the odor. They also don't like the capsaison in the red pepper. Bugs don't like the garlic. Also the longer it sits in the bottle and gets stinky the better it works. I live in the country and have deer all around me. I eat deer and have venison in my freezer year round. People that I have given this recipe to can't thank me enough. This stuf works better than a electric fence. We literally watch the deer walk right up to the plants, take a smell, turn their heads then walk away. Pretty cool to see. ,Dan

this is all a farce. The so called name of the plant is not really Goodbye Neighbours. Goodbye Neigbours is actually a trademark which is now invalid because it has become the identity of the plant itself. The originator of this plant has never offerred a variety name . If the name of the plant was say Houzz Special it would be written like this Acmena smithii 'Houzz Special' GOODBYE NEIGHBOURS TM Here properly used GOODBYE NEIGHBOURS only tells you who produced the plant and is NOT the identity of the plant itself which is 'Houzz Special' If I used the trademark HIDE YOUR NEIGHBOUR I could write the description like this Acmena smithii 'Houzz Special' HIDE YOUR NEIGHBOUR TM ...The variety name stays the same 'Houzz Special' but the buyer can see its produced by the business that uses the trademark HIDE YOUR NEIGHBOUR
