If u ran out of containers & had 2 buy some what would you buy?
Comments (33)This pic is from 2 years ago, they are the 8 oz foam cups from the Dollar General store & they are setting in sweater boxes, well the sweater boxes got brittle after setting out in the sun for just 1 year, so I am using cardboard boxes cut to size with plastic over the top, of coarse I don't plan to move them after they have gotten wet. The cups are just the right size for sharing with family & friends. Now for tomatoes, I use the 16 oz cups & only fill half full of potting soil & 1 or 2 seeds per cup, & as the plant grows I add more dirt as needed instead of transplanting, thanks Trudi for teaching me how to do that ") When it is time to go topless, the cups that have sprouted goes into one box & the ones that haven't sprouted yet goes into another box & recovered for a while longer. lilly...See MoreWould you ever buy a 2 bedroom house?
Comments (52)Just did. It's just the two of us & we just bought our 2/1 retirement house. We have several years to get it ready & will use it for weekends until we're ready to go there full time. Might eventually add another bathroom, but might not. We're going to renovate the one we have with a walk-in shower to make it easier for us as we grow older & I'm sure we can live with just one. I know a lot of people prefer a bigger house to accommodate guests (& stuff) but with the money we save on a smaller house, utilities & tax we can put them up at a local B&B when they visit & still come out way ahead! My parents stayed in the large family home too long because they wanted us all to have our own rooms when we came home - even though all of us were almost never there at the same time - maybe twice a year. The rest of the year, they had to deal with all of the maintenance required on a 4/4 with large yard, etc. Our primary residence is a large 3/2 and that's cool too - just takes me longer to clean, more money to heat/cool & lots more money in taxes. We can, and prefer to live small rather than large. Our last residence was a 1/1 farmhouse & we loved that too. Had no problem selling it either....See MoreWould you buy a house with sloping floors?
Comments (6)Take a marble and a long level and examine the slope and distance of slope on the second floor to identify extent and magnitude. Some movement and slope could take place as the result of drying of moist framing lumber. Substantial slope, on the other hand, suggest some other cause for deflection and irregular movement. The first and most serious thing to check is foundation cracking, settlement or movement. Serious flooding could also be a cause of substantial cracking, settlement or movement. Check the exposed foundation on the exterior for cracks and/or patching. If there is a basement or crawl space do the same thing from the interior, especially in the areas directly beneath the sloping floors. If there is a basement or crawl space, check for signs of flooding or large amounts of water. Often the perimeter foundation walls and interior bearing elements may be discolored by significant amounts of water. Check the wall finishes in the area of the sloping floors, and in the area in the floor below (if any) for cracking, patching or refinishing. Check the doors and door frames and trim to see if there has been remedial trimming, leveling, refinishing, etc. resulting from building movement. All of this is good advice for any prospective purchase of an existing house. Where there is noticeable upper story deflection or movement it's essential. Good luck!...See MoreWould you buy a house with tiny master bedroom?
Comments (36)@Denita All my measurements are in ft as I know most people replying are American. But imagine a 3x5 metre closet... that would be nice 😂 @maifleur03 After Denita mentioned that it might not be the original master bed, I looked at the document the real estate agent gave me, and it is an addition built above the garage in 2005. @Bruce in Northern Virginia Yes, that’s what I’m trying to figure out by posting here. This site is full of more experienced buyers, and I am now more enlightened....See MoreUser
