Rubber Plant drying out?

jaredasser

Hello everyone!

I wasn't sure if this question should go here or in the fig sub-forum. I have had this variegated rubber plant for close to three months. Everything was fine until a few days ago when I noticed a brown spot on one of its leaves. Not sure if it is too much or too little water, I usually water when the soil is dry, every couple of days.

Also I just moved a heater into my basement, it is maybe 6-8 feet from where the rubber tree stands. I thought that this could be drying it out?

I looked around the forum but couldn't find a tread with what looked like exactly my problem.

Anyway here are a couple of photos (the second one actually became dry and crispy about a week and a half ago). Would love any advice, I would really hate to destroy this lovely foliage.
