Schultz came for a visit

Daughter brought Schultz to see me today. He was still on his leash when they came in, he went nuts till she unhooked him! Then he bounded into my lap with sheer excitement. Took him a bit to calm down, he was just crazy energy! Then he was all nuzzles and kisses! He pretty much stayed in my lap the entire afternoon. Sadly though when my daughter picked up her handbag he was ready to go. Yes I was a bit jealous that he wanted to leave me. It's hard to realize he enjoys being with Clair his 4 legged female schnauzer girlfriend. But hey...she's someone to run and play with, something I can't do right now. I'm happy that he loves where he's at right now. It would kill me if he didn't. Was heartbreaking to see him go though. Look forward to his next visit.

My mother and her Boston terrier experienced the same thing. Kinda broke her heart, but it still was reassuring that she was where she (the dog) needed to be. Heartbreaking, for sure. (((((Audrey)))))

I'm glad you had a good visit with him. I'm sure he would rather be at home with you, but, like you, he is making the best of the situation. Hopefully, he will be able to come home for good real soon. In the meantime, take care of yourself and get better. Hugs!

ZZ~ What a cutie and fun find! :) I love it when we start seeing the toads. we put out broken terra cotta pots for them to hide under. :) I have pics of a few of our summer visitors, toads, birds and moths. ;) We are finding the little lizzards this past week or so too. They can be startling.. they darn things look like little scorpions. lol! Sherizona, are you sure it's the lizzards eating the seedlings?? I've never heard of them eating plants, just bugs. JoJo

Hey Ang- Where abouts are you? Those little guys look like a pair of Pintail or Sharptail Grouse. They are very abundant in open spaces and grasslands at this time of year, even in the cities. They nest in May usually and often build their nests under heavy underbrush such as hedges. They do fly but more like a chicken. Low to the ground in sprint flight from bush to bush. They are probably looking for food and water as the grain fields are pretty bare. Maybe? Ginny

Suncoast, I am a conniving mom. I knew that by offering to do his laundry, he would need to come back and pick it up. Thereby increasing my odds of keeping Millie overnight:) The arrangement benefited both of us! Cats do have great memories, especially for places, other cats, and people. Ann, that’s amazing that yours still remembered everything after so long. Jackie, yes exactly. The scent of a strange cat seems to equal infidelity, in a cats mind. It’s so funny when a cat actually watches TV. Some do and some don’t. Sebastian has no interest whatsoever, never did. Dexter used to watch nature and cat shows with me when he was younger, but he’s not interested anymore. Millie absolutely loves it! I do fast forward the commercials and long human interviews, because she quickly loses interest during those. But that shows me that there’s no doubt about her knowing what she’s watching. She’s not just watching movement and lights. She’s watching the cats and birds. She talks to them, too. Vap, she’s not really supposed to have snacks because she's supposed to stay slim. Any extra weight will only put added stress on her already wonky remaining hind leg. I did allow her a few bits of Thanksgiving Turkey, which she devoured, begging for more. Goodness, she has stolen my heart. Thoughts of kidnapping, or is it catnapping...... Lisa

He has a rich life, loved in two places! I know how you feel, miss him when he goes. Glad you got the visit, though. I hope you see him again soo.

Wonderful that you and Shultz had some time together! I know that the visit lifted your spirits immensely. Soon, I hope, that Shultz will be back home with you.

My daughter is a nurse and the clinical supervisor on her floor. She makes it her business to find out if a patient has a pet that they are worrying about and/or longing to see. Then she tries to arrange a time for the pet to be brought in for a visit. Daughter says it is amazing how much such a visit of a loved pet can lift the spirits of seriously ill patients.

I agree you both got to visit, you can tell how much he misses you by the welcomes you get and the excitement also. But its great he is loved and happy and content to leave too but that doesn't mean he doesn't miss you and you are doing what is best for him right now or forever, not sure what the plans are there. I think that is awesome when pet owners realize I can't give what is needed now and here is someone that can.
