I have the steam feature in my LG washer and dryer. I use the feature in my dryer to 'refresh' things, like sheets, towels etc.. I just used it yesterday to refresh my down comforter that has been put away since last winter. I think it is a good feature. I have only used the steam feature in my washer to 'felt' some crochet that I have done.

Edited to say that I meant clean sheets or towels that had been stored, and not used. Not dirty or used items........

I've had my Samsung washer and dryer for 3 years now and have never used the steam feature on mine even once. If something needs to be sanitized, which is hardly ever, I'll just wash it in hot water. I use cold water to wash pretty much everything except my towels. There is a steam feature on my dryer, as well. I do use both the "Refresh" and "Wrinkle Care" occasionally. They're especially convenient to de-wrinkle my dinner napkins and sheets. I use the Refresh with a dryer sheet on the bedspreads, blankets and pillows in DD's room and our guest room when those items are clean, but may have taken on a bit of a musty smell due to the rooms not having been used in a while.

Things that I don't like about this set: (1) My washer is my first front load washer and I hate it. I will never buy another one. (2) Both the washer and dryer play these annoying little tunes when they turn on and off. (3) The controls on both are on the front right of them, and are too easy to accidentally bump and turn on and off. (4) My washer is very prone to smelling moldy. The repair man that came out originally told me to just keep it's door open when not in use. Ah, no! with a small "hermit dog", who I know would try to climb into it, there is no way I'd take that chance with her!

I have it in my LG washer and dryer. I've used it in both, but don't use it oten. I don't consider it essential, but I do like having the option. You can put a damp cloth in the dryer and get much of the same benefits. I think it is harder to replicate the results with the washer. I have used steam in the washer mainly for an extra deep cleaning of towels and on a really stubborn stain.

I have it on my Electrolux. I use it in the washer to get rid of the "funk" on the boys sports clothing. Dryer use same as others have stated. Dryer also has an "add steam" anti static option. I use it and no longer have static without softener.

I like it. Not essential, but nice. If I didn't have I would be fine.

I am always following these posts on laundry appliances (mine are I think 12? 14? years old cant remember) as I expect to have to replace at least the washer soon. So I wasn't really entertaining the steam/sink thing in the washers, but after reading the replies so far, it sure does not sound like something I need/want. *Scratch that one off the list. )
