Need Help with Bathroom Vanity

I'm redoing a hall bath used by my last remaining kid at home (age 17) and by the occaissional guest. It was last done in 1988 (not by me). It a typical 5x8 bath. I'm not changing the white tub or white tiles around the tub as they are in fine condition.

My issue is finding a vanity that is a step or two above what the big box stores sell, but won't break my budget. I'm looking for something contemporary but not super modern in a dark wood tone.

My space is unusual - 45" so wider than the normal 36-42" but less than the standard 48".

Any ideas on where to look would be greatly appreciated!!

Try a bath showroom near you -- either a kitchen and bath place or plumbing supply place with a showroom. They may offer lines that are semi-custom. For example, I ordered a Kraftmaid vanity from a kitchen and bath showroom and I was able to pick out a combination of base cabinets and drawer stacks to fit my space. You'll have the ability to add fillers if you need another inch or two. And you can pick door style, color, etc. You'll have the ability to work with a designer who can help you pick something that will work for you. The cost for my 84" vanity is less than what I would spend at Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn and I think the quality is better and I get to tailor to my needs. The place where I am getting my shower fixtures also offers lines such as Bertch that looked good, as well.

I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero.

Agree with Design Girl. Seems like a waste to cover up your wall tile with a "slab" of mirror. Arteriors has some more interesting mirrors. Do wall hung vanities I use Godmorgon from Ikea and to be safe I usually put legs about half way back you do not see them but they are good for extra support and I would do that in a rental for sure. Probably IMO a gut job for the bathrooms and new acrylic shower stalls just to make sure there are no issues with anything leaking . Not sure what the budget is but a nice neutral fllor and wall tiles will make renters happy. BTW the Godmorgon can be bought with the counter and sink all in or you can do your own counter and sink

What is the 20.5" dimension please? From the outside of the cabinet to the outside of the cabinet or the inside of the cabinet to the inside of the cabinet? If the latter, the Caxton will fit.
