OK; Buddy---you see how much you've been missed---don't be coy. When I pick up beer bottles along the roadside while walking my daughter's dog, I've often thought of you. When Bicycle Charlie comes and hangs out down by the river for the day, with his knapsack stuffed with food and beer, camoflauge jacket and wide brimmed, beat-up hat, I've wondered how you're doing. I see him leave in the afternoon and wonder about you again. Solitary life, but happy enough and content with himself. Your individual paths find their own routes when I remember the galaxies of separation in your thought processes and your particular ability to take any given day and turn it into an excerpt from a battered novel, which when opened, allows weathered pages of life-lived-on-the-edge to fall where they may. One has the choice to pick up a page or two and read them, or to leave them as they lay and continue on their way. I have to chase them as they're blown about and catch what I can. So much of this world is worded pablum, contrived situations passing for reality, cocooned lives rolling over those who have nothing between hurt and their vunerable skin. You remind the reader life is to be lived and endured, to be celebrated and once again, endured. And you never, ever sugar-coat it. That is why I remember you. That is why I will never, ever forget you. You remind me of Richard Abbey---he got out before you did---not that he wanted to. I'll never forget him, either.

your link made clickable That site calls it Ghompera strawberry. I imagine it was misspelled and should be Gomphrena L. globe amaranth , which is a native in some states...per the USDA site Gomphrena comes in many colors. Sue Here is a link that might be useful: Google images for Gomphrena

Just wanted to update. Starting today, while using IE9 as my browser, I can finally copy and paste from GardenWeb into a Word document. Don't know why I couldn't for the past few days. I will probably keep Firefox12 on my computer, but to be truthful, I did not like it. Maybe it's just that my comfort zone is IE, since that is what I have always used.

I have to put an addendum here.....for those who use PBase and want to make clickable thumbs as described above. The reason why I had a problem with thumbnails in my other post "Window Shopping" here in the gallery.....after I so carefully explained how to make clickable thumbnails only to find they didn't work for my PBase links LOL....I consulted with PBase to learn that their location of the URL for the thumbs..... as I described above ....is not reliable as the thumbs could be moved to another server....which is what happened to mine and why they didn't show up properly. They have another system for making a thumb URL, using direct linking to the original photo but with "/small" before the dot jpg. In other words, the second half of the code string is the same as the first only with the addition of a slash and the word "small", here shown in red: I hope that helps make it easier and sorry if anyone using PBase tried to use the above and found it didn't work. It should be okay now. SharonCb
