there are many really good useful screen capture free programs out there, bobs link to those at gizmo provides several of the top choices. Many have the editing stuff all built in to them. On my linux I have one called ksnapshot which is so easy to use wish they had just that item for windows. On windows I have used a few including the gadwin program and I have used this one Screenpresso logo and the picpick one mentioned at the gizmo site. I had no idea the pdf select tool would not work on some items. That is strange. on the ones y'all tried it on had you actually saved the pdf file to your pc or were you viewing the pdf file from the online site? just wondering if that would make any difference. I have never encountered that problem.

Was playing around with the select tool and find that it selects text but not photos. I you want to include photos in what you select I suggest Printkey 2000. I use it so much I put it in the programs folder in my start up folder. When I press the print screen key it opens. You click 'rectangle' and draw a rectangle around the part of the screen you want. You can then click save and save it as a jpg (or other graphics files) or print it. If there is an active window open you press alt and print screen then it only selects the active part, saving having to draw a rectangle around it.

Hi OJ, Good for you! If one had written a small novel, and didn't want to risk it maybe getting lost, one could also open the post in another tab or window to reference the thread's info. Do you not do multiple tabs, or multiple windows? I know on dial-up it wouldn't be the fastest way. Sue
